doubledown #1 Posted December 17, 2007 (edited) Well, being as I was snowed in yesterday I had some time on my hands. I've seen this conversion done before so I thought I'd give it a try. An Atari Jaguar pad converted to the ColecoVision. I can honestly say I don't really care for the Jaguar pads for Jaguar games so I wasn't really excited to do this, but I figured I was bored, and if I made this and hated it, someone might want to buy it. But I have to say I find this controller very comfortable to play ColecoVision games with. I find it almost as good as my recent custom ColecoVision pad. The extra buttons (C, Pause, and Option) have been removed, and their holes filled since they are unused with the ColecoVision. Then I polished it off with a glossy black, laser-printed, heat-laminated overlay with the ColecoVision logo over the control area, and this snappy Mouse Trap overlay for the keypad. The fully functional keypad and 2 independent fire buttons offer complete compatability with all games not requiring a special controller such as the Driving Module, Super Action Controller, or Roller Controller. What do ya think? Edited December 17, 2007 by doubledown
joeybastard #2 Posted December 17, 2007 Nice! I always liked the Jag controller even though I didn't like most of the Jag games. I'd buy one of these if the price were reasonable.
Lord Helmet #3 Posted December 17, 2007 That looks pretty good. I'm not sure if I like it better than your original homebrew controller though. Would these be cheaper to produce?
doubledown #4 Posted December 17, 2007 That looks pretty good. I'm not sure if I like it better than your original homebrew controller though. Would these be cheaper to produce? I definately prefer my custom control pad, in both style and feel, (too bad I sold it ) but these would most certainly be cheaper to make more of. It still takes about the same time to wire, but the case modding isn't required, with the exception of filling the 3 holes, and removing the damned Atari logos, stupid Atari. But it all depends on what kind of price Jaguar controllers can be purchased for. A Jaguar Pro controller could be used, with which you could have 4 buttons like the Super Action Controllers. That would allow you to add Front Line and Rocky: Super Action Boxing to the compatability list. There of course was the possibility of making this one fuction like that, but it would have meant using the Pause or Option button for the 4th button, and with it not "matching" the other useable buttons, I felt it would have looked like crap. Besides Rocky is a crap game, but I do like me some Front Line. Anybody have a Jaguar Pro Controller they're looking to get rid of. Perhaps a swap for one of these ColecoVision beauties?
