A Sprite #1 Posted December 19, 2007 (edited) Odyssey 2, RCA, Fairchild, University computers, and too many pong clones to list. Why or why not? Edited December 19, 2007 by A Sprite
vdub_bobby #2 Posted December 19, 2007 Don't; don't have access to them.
Recycled #3 Posted December 19, 2007 I'd use the Odyssey 2 if I had one. I would love to play KC Munchkin on an O2 again.
kroogur #4 Posted December 19, 2007 I have the Odyssey and the Odyssey 2 the Fairchild and several "pong" variants including the original i will test them occasionally but for the most part they are for my collection only.
joeybastard #5 Posted December 19, 2007 I have broken out the Radio Shack TV Scoreboard Pong for friends but that's about it. I don't have anything else less advanced than the VCS.
Emehr #6 Posted December 19, 2007 The only system older than the 2600 that I have is an O2. It hasn't seen electricity in probably over a year. I picked it up at a yard sale out of curiosity, got a few games for it and tried it out but it never clicked with me. I've contemplated selling it but haven't made a decision yet. Rik #7 Posted December 19, 2007 (edited) Nope,i didnt want to buy a less superior system, why?.I guess i was too young to get any pre 2600 systems, and after i got a 2600,why would one settle for less? Edited December 19, 2007 by Rik
Christophero Sly #8 Posted December 19, 2007 I used to have an O2, but I traded it away. I have a Pong console, but it's just for looks. I've never hooked it up.

BassGuitari #11 Posted December 19, 2007 I have an original Odyssey (which never gets played), a slew of generic Pong machines (which almost never get played), Odysseys 100,300,and 400 and Sears Telegames Pong (which get played once in a while), and a Fairchild VES, Channel F System II, and Odyssey 2 (which get played relatively often, actually). Unfortunately, my VES doesn't work, and my Channel F II is acting a little screwy now, which really sucks since I just got Alien Invasion for it. The Odyssey 2 was my first retro console, which I got in junior high from a friend about ten years ago, and I love it even today! Why do I play them? Because I like them. I don't play my Odyssey because it's a pain to set up any game other than Table Tennis, and I don't play my slew of generic Pong games because I've got about a thousand of them and for the most part, the games are identical...I think they all use the same "Pong-on-a-Chip." I like my APF TV Fun, though. It's nicely built and looks cool. And my Radio Shack TV Scoreboard has some lightgun games, so that's cool too.
Atarifever #12 Posted December 19, 2007 I like to play the O2. It's a good system.
+atari2600land #13 Posted December 19, 2007 If I saw an O2 for sale, I'd buy it in a heart beat. I did see a game for sale once, but I didn't have the system for it, so I passed. Who are these weird people that put games for systems in places like Value Village, but not the systems themselves?
Scumdogg #14 Posted December 19, 2007 i play on my Wii sometimes Dammit, i was going to say this exact same thing. I have an Odyssey2 with about 20 games, but i haven't played it in a long time. I blame the ridiculously short controller cords.
Vic George 2K3 #15 Posted December 19, 2007 I haven't gamed on a "weaker than Atari 2600" game system for years.
BydoEmpire #16 Posted December 19, 2007 I would play my O2, but the left controller doesn't move to one direction, which makes KC's Crazy Chase and most other games unplayable. Since the controllers are wired in, I'm pretty much SOL.
Technosis #17 Posted December 20, 2007 Well I have my Emerson Arcadia 2001, which I played a few times, but now sits in storage
supercat #18 Posted December 20, 2007 Since the controllers are wired in, I'm pretty much SOL. If you open the case, I think you'll find that the controllers are plugged into the main board. The connectors are not nearly as tough as those on the 2600, and would fail in short order if handled roughly (probably the reason they're held captive) but swapping shouldn't be difficult. Too bad some games use one controller and some the other.
supercat #19 Posted December 20, 2007 Odyssey 2, RCA, Fairchild, University computers, and too many pong clones to list. There aren't many processor-based systems that are in every way inferior to the 2600. IIRC, most systems had more than 128 bytes of RAM, even though much of it was often devoted to graphic storage. Pong systems that aren't based on the ubiquitous GI chip are interesting, but those aren't nearly as numerous as the GI ones. What makes the 2600 special is that Atari left out much of the hardware that would get in the way of doing cool stuff.
Gorf #20 Posted December 20, 2007 O^2 is a wonderful machine...the game are simple but exactly the way I like them. I actually have an O^2 with DB-9 joystick jacks and matching O^2 sticks with the opposite DB-9. It does not look like a mod at all. Very professionally molded look. If it is, whoever did it is good...real good. I love my Astrocade. I think that is well above a 2600 in terms of power though so I guess that don't count
Rik #21 Posted December 20, 2007 (edited) I guess hardly no one plays or collects for the leisure vision/arcadia 2001.I have 8-10 mint games for it that i cant even give away!Advertised them for sale here at marketplace about 5 months ago,not even ONE BITE!,decided to give them away,no bite either. shadow460 #22 Posted December 20, 2007 I was thinking Arcadia 2001 myself, and if you still want rid of those games I think I can find a home for them...maybe. In some ways the original Game Boy could be considered inferior to the 2600. I used mine just yesterday.
littleman jack #23 Posted December 20, 2007 I really like the Odyssey 2. KC Munchkin, KC's Crazy Chase, KTAA, and Smithereens all get regular time at my house in between 2600 and 7800 sessions.
Jess Ragan #24 Posted December 20, 2007 I tried to play the Fairchild Channel F, but it wouldn't work with my high-def television set. I'm convinced that the thing is broken, because the graphics are scrambled even when they're not full of static. ... Why the hell did I buy this thing, anyway? Could someone explain this to me? There's exactly one game that's worth a damn (Dodge It, the foundation for my own Solar Plexus) and twenty three that suck with the force of a New Orleans hurricane, even on an emulator. Even homebrew developers have a hell of a time making the system play games that don't bite hard nards.
Student Driver #25 Posted December 20, 2007 I play both my Odyssey 2 and Channel F. O2's got some great games-- UFO! alone is worth having to play through a hundred games of Helicopter Rescue!-- and in contrast to Jess above, I find the Channel F to be an okay little system. I also play old PET games on occasion, and have been having a blast playing some of my old LED/VFD electronic games. I need to dig out my APF M-1000 and see if I can't get it up and running.
