Recycled #26 Posted December 21, 2007 I also underestimated Circus Atari.. about 30 years ago when we got an Atari for Christmas. One of the games we returned (Casino) and me and my sister wanted had to decide on a new game to replace it. My sister wanted to get Circus Atari and I wanted to get Bowling. Ok so she was right one time. Oh yea.....your very fortunate to have gotten CA instead of Bowling. Wish I would of done that back then!! Me too! I actually got my way that time and got Bowling, which I loved at the time.. but cmon I'm not sure if I would have appreciated how good Circus was back then tho. I never loved bowling. I played it because I bought it.....but I assume that I would've of had more fun with CA.
8bitgamer #27 Posted December 22, 2007 I love virtually any game that uses the paddle controllers. Circus Atari is definitely one of the best.
BigO #28 Posted December 22, 2007 I love virtually any game that uses the paddle controllers. Circus Atari is definitely one of the best. I'm kinda like that, too, though I'm not a big fan of the video olympics and I've played better "breakout" style games. Tac-Scan is fun. I like the interface they came up with for Steeplechase. I want to try to hack Space Invaders to use the paddle and speed up the play (though as yet I haven't a clue if it's possible). What do you think it is about the paddle interface that makes it so appealing?
tcv #29 Posted December 4, 2008 DEAD THREAD IS .... ALIVE!!!!!!!!! I was thinking about this over the last couple of days. This is my favorite Atari 2600 game of all time. Is there any kind of data published behind it? Like who made it? What was it a port of exactly? Did anyone try to make something with a similar feel on more modern hardware? (Not so sure about Clowns and Balloons linked earlier in this thread. Losing the see-saw seems to me a big minus.)
AtariLeaf #30 Posted December 4, 2008 Its my all time favorite too. In fact, when I first came to Atariage, my username was "I-Love-Circus-Atari". I can't explain why its my favorite game but it is.
tcv #31 Posted December 4, 2008 I can't explain why its my favorite game but it is. Well, for me, it's the sound, the physics, the paddle controller, the way you can aim fairly well, the "lights." It's a neat game.
keilbaca #32 Posted December 4, 2008 Hehe, thanks for bringing me back the urge to play CA. I just might have enough time to get into the Atari HSC now.
+Random Terrain #33 Posted December 4, 2008 As soon as legacyengineer.com makes some USB paddles, Circus Atari will be one of the main games I'll be playing.

tcv #36 Posted December 4, 2008 Circus Atari is either a "port" of Circus or Clowns. Well, that's a toss-up. I suppose I'll go with Circus because it was in color.
[d2f]Iggy*SJB #37 Posted December 5, 2008 Cartridge Instructions Box I always thought that was Complete In Box.
Starhopper #38 Posted December 5, 2008 Wow... It's almost been a year since I posted on this thread... And, just like then, I am gripped with the urge to bounce clowns around Thanx TCV
boek #39 Posted December 5, 2008 Cartridge Instructions Box I always read it as 'complete in box.' I agree with everyone else; Circus Atari is a must-have.
atari_envy #40 Posted December 5, 2008 Cartridge Instructions Box I always thought that was Complete In Box. Hmmm. If it's "Cartridge Instructions Box" what would "NIB" be? Possibly a case of: You say po-TAE-toe, I say po-TAH-toe. I am really TRYING to like Circus Atari. Help me out. Is there a particular game number that is better or is there a trick? I get frustrated by always splatting right next to the trampoline. I do like the game sounds and watching the little Atari dude fly through the air. However, as it stands right now, given the choice of similar games, I prefer Super Breakout.
+Random Terrain #41 Posted December 5, 2008 According to thefreedictionary.com, CIB means Complete in Box (auction listings). You'd think NIB would mean New In Box, but it doesn't. It means Nude in Basement.
supercat #42 Posted December 5, 2008 You'd think NIB would mean New In Box, but it doesn't. It means Nude in Basement. And MIB doesn't mean "Mint in Box", but "Men in Black" (actually, in some cases, it means "mashed in box").
Zap! #43 Posted December 5, 2008 Cartridge Instructions Box Complete In Box is what I have always heard.
yoshilime #44 Posted December 5, 2008 CIB always ment complete in box to me......but cart instuctions box makes sense.
Nukey Shay #45 Posted December 7, 2008 Great game! IMO, it's the best breakout-type game on the VCS. A five-digit score board would have been nice though. Took a while...but I'll give ya six: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=135635
7800Lover #46 Posted December 7, 2008 Circus Atari is magnificent. It's so simple and yet so fun. And it has one of the best death scenes ever. I love it if the clown misses the see-saw and crashes onto the ground. His head splatters and limbs flail around. My brother and I would deliberately kill ourselves just so we could laugh out loud at that.
boek #47 Posted December 7, 2008 Just finished playing a game of Circus Atari. My score was 1110. (actually, in some cases, it means "mashed in box"). How true that is
