Ghost Soldier #5 Posted December 25, 2007 My favorite x-mas present was a SNES w/Super Mario World. It was the year after the SNES released and I remember my parents buying me Long John Silvers and giving me the SNES early. I'll never forget the day I spent playing it on my little 13 in color tv. Vic George 2K3 #6 Posted December 25, 2007 Getting a 4-switch woodgrain Atari 2600 for Christmas in 1981, followed by getting a copy of Space Invaders only a day or so later. Getting a TRON handheld game for Christmas in 1982, and having it stolen outside a bus terminal in Providence, RI right at the end of my Christmas vacation, was the worst. JamesD #8 Posted December 25, 2007 There was a period where I wasn't able to visit my parents for about 3 years and I went home for Christmas. My dad had put up lights on the house for the first time since I was a kid just to make me feel at home.

phaxda #10 Posted December 25, 2007 Atari 5200, 1984. From Aunt Ellie and Uncle Lee. Close runner-up, same Christmas: a color TV to play it on. I think it was a 19-inch. Also the games, still special to me today: Mario Brothers, Dig-Dug, and Moon Patrol. It was a very special Christmas because we did not have a lot of money back then. I asked my mom if there were any pictures and she said no, because film and getting the pictures developed would have been an extra expense...that's how poor we were at the time. I am thankful for everything I have today.

Tickled_Pink #16 Posted December 26, 2007 It was, and still is my most expensive Christmas pressie ... the year is 1985. My parents forked out £205 for an 800XL, 1050 and 1010. Not to mention a few games on top of it from the mail order catalogue. Four years previously they'd paid out £100 for my VCS. *Sigh* Great days. They don't know it yet but this year they're going to help me buy a Wii.

shadow460 #21 Posted December 26, 2007 (edited) Hmmm, gotta think about this one... Probably '81 or '82 when we got the Woody with Asteroids, Missile Command, Space Invaders, Codebreaker, and Combat. 1987: We visited family in Minnesota and went sledding on the hills. I'd never seen so much snow before! The next year, we all met at my Grandpa's house for Christmas about halfway between here and Minneapolis. It wasn't quite the same, but we still had a lot of fun. There was another one when my brother and I got Science Fair project kits. He got a radio that he had to assemble and I got a solar power kit. That was around 1989. Christmas 2001: The first year I celebrated with kids as an adult. My ex-wife and I got together with friends. There were four adults and three kids, and for a while another friend was over as well. The fellow who hosted us really knew how to throw a party, and that's exactly what he did. Christmas 2004: Not exactly Christmas day, but ricky29 and I went to see Mannheim Steamroller at the Ford Center. Christmas 2006: We (ricky29 and I) spent Christmas with my folks. My stepbrother and his fiance brought their kids, who sat and played NES in Dad's living room. I remember my other brother who's a cop trying to play Duck Hunt after having one too many beers! I'm not going to mention what ricky29 and I did later or how close we came to ... oops! I've said too much! EDIT: I guess it's not about the gifts, it's about the people I spent time with. Even this year with everything that's happened, I still wouldn't trade the people I've been with for any gift.
