sandmountainslim #1 Posted December 28, 2007 I have been off work on vacation for a week with another week to go and have been playin' so much Centipede and SI on my Atari that today my right arm isn't functioning correctly It just feels "weak" and I can' grip or move it as normal, I must have "Joystick Wrist" or something? I am using a Slick Stick could that do it? Anyone else ever play so much Atari that they injure themselves? Geez! I must be gettin' old. WP
godzillajoe #2 Posted December 28, 2007 The way I hold the stick, the middle of my palm on the right hand has a sore spot after marathon Atari sessions and the corner of the stick jamming into it for hours And if I play hours a day for a few days, it goes from my wrist to left elbow all the way up to my shoulder. But yeah, I'm old.
Emehr #3 Posted December 28, 2007 I remember when I was a kid I'd play so long my eyes would get googly (whatever that means, lol). Called it "Atari Eyes".
marcfrick2112 #4 Posted December 28, 2007 well, i'm old too, remember when I got my 7800, came with 20 or so games, including Food Fight, which I played that first night for hours on end, my hands ached terribly after.... Then, fast-forward to more recent times.... SSX Tricky and SSX 3 on my GameCube..... As for eyes getting 'googly' , well I remember a long session with Nights on one of my Saturns, I simply couldn't focus my eyes right, kinda scary actually............. chris_lynx1989 #5 Posted December 28, 2007 Yes,I know the "blur" and "tennis elbow, hand, arm and shoulder" thing too! I get it from long stints playing or web surfing now with my PSP.I used to get it a little in the 80s and 90s with Vectrex,GameBoy,Lynx,VirtualBoy,Genesis,Turbo Express,Nomad,Saturn and Dreamcast "marathons of joy" too.I don't know if any of this stuff makes us OLD in our 20s,30s or 40s.I got "twinges" as a kid and in my teens too.I'll be 44 in Feb '08 AND I don't consider myself OLD yet.Just take 4 tri-buffered aspirin or 2 Aleve. accousticguitar #6 Posted December 28, 2007 That sounds a lot like carpal tunnel syndrome (sp?). I had that when I worked at the post office, but when I quit so did the CTS. It's caused by too much repetition. I've never had it bother me when playing video games though. I guess I'm just not a dedicated gamer.
