Most expensvie/hardest to get N64 games?

Recommended Posts

You ever find a Star Craft? I've seen only one other myself, but a couple new used game stores are popping up that may have one.

Nope. Not yet.

Still looking and hoping.

I remember seeing one not that long ago.....but for an insane price, without a box or instructions.....just loose. Maybe it's still there and I can jew the guy down on the price. It's a Game-X-Change, though, so I'm probably just beating a dead horse.

Last summer I spent a few months beefing up my N64 collection and by far, the Mario Party carts sold time and time again for well over $20 each.

When it comes to N64 on ebay, it seems that rarity has little to do with re-sale price in 90% of auctions, the exceptions being someone selling a truly rare cart who knows what he/she has.

One of the best techniques I found for ebay collecting was to find sellers who had more than one cart for sale and who was NOT a power seller.

I found that I could sniper bid on all their carts [the ones I needed anyway] and I could get a slew of them for a good price as long as the seller offered combined shipping. I did the same thing to get my gameboy collection up to over 100 carts [no dupes] :)

I tended to figure out overall cost of say 4-5 carts with shipping, so on average I paid about $3-$5 per cart, sometimes as much as $10, shipping cost included. I paid less attention to rarity and more attention to filling in my missing carts and I excluded sports and wrestling games, which I refuse to collect.

I started by setting my sights on my own personal tastes for games I'd actually play rather than just sit on a shelf and be part of a collection. Right now, with the exception of a few titles and the aforementioned sports and wrestling games, I have an almost complete USA N64 collection.

It's a lot harder if you're looking to collect full boxed games with manuals and everything although sometimes you can find sellers on ebay who have a slew of empty boxes and manuals for sale.

Yes. Get one. The expansion pack is a freaking sweet thing. however, it does stick out the top of the N64 a little.

The official Expansion Pak fits in there. I'd never recommend anything else. After all, RAMBUS = heat = memory problems.

Good point, but I don't have the RAMBUS brand one. I have Pelican. Plus, I'm thinking of removing the part that sticks out. All it's for is a handle to pull it out with. I don't forsee any need to pull it out.

One thing that I have noticed with Nintendo games... rarity is rarely ever a price determining factor, unless you are dealing with pretty obscure titles. Chances are the more popular a game was, or the better a game was considered, the higher the price will be. Great cases in example are landing titles like Puzznic, and Pac-Mania (both R6 by digital press guides) and something like $25 for a boxed/sealed/new Aladdin Deck Enhancerw/ Dizzy (R7), and the Wisdom Tree games for a few bucks a pop, but paying well into the mid $30 range for the Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana (all are like R2 or so...not rare, but popular, and regarded as great games... my own opinion icluded).

The RAMBUS folks didn't make an Expansion Pak. The N64 uses RAMBUS memory, which is what was used in early P4 computers. As with the PCs, the N64's RAM does heat up during use.

Nintendo's official Pak wasn't nearly as prone to heat problems as some of the others. Some brands forced you to leave the cover off so the heat could dissipate. Nintendo's model, of course, did not.

I just saw this thread and one game came to mind right before I clicked on it to read through. I read through both pages and was surprised that I didn't see it mentioned....

Worms Armageddon

I was under the impression that this was one of the hardest to find N64 titles.

What do you think?

Bowser N64, can you kill that book you have copied in your signature, and please don't reply to threads saying "I don't know" unless you were asked a question directly that you don't know the answer to. Just a request, I'm not a moderator and have no power. :)
