Lord Helmet #1 Posted January 2, 2008 (edited) I love this game. I loved both of the KOTOR games, and ME feels like that, only better. I'm only about 10 hours in...and I can't wait to get home from work today and put in some more hours. From a presentation standpoint, it is really well done. The cut scenes feel very movie like. I like hte way you can choose your dialog thread before the person you are speaking to is finished. It makes the conversations pretty seamless. The action oriented fighting is better than the turn based KOTOR. It feels kinda like Lost Planet and KOTOR meshed together. Edit: More thoughts here on my blog. Red 5 #2 Posted January 2, 2008 20+ hours in. This is the cherry on the cake of an amazing 2007 for video games. Could be the best year I remember in a long long time. Halo 3 Bioshock Call of Duty 4 Guitar Hero 3 The Darkness Mass Effect Mario Galaxy Metroid Zelda Phantom Hourglass All those amazing games and Mass Effect is the best by far. moycon #3 Posted January 2, 2008 I loved it as well. Currently I am finally working my way through Bio Shock (another fantastic game) but plan on playing through Mass Effect at least a couple more times.
NE146 #4 Posted January 2, 2008 I played through the beginning of it.. seems nice. But right now COD4 multiplayer takes up all my 360 time. I'll try Mass Effect sometime soon again though....
Mendon #5 Posted January 2, 2008 I have the game but haven't started it yet.... still working on trying to beat Overlord and Bioshock. One thing I'd like to add is that I **HIGHLY** recommend picking up the prequel novel "Mass Effect: Revelation" by Drew Karpyshyn, the lead writer of the video game. I'm almost done with the book and I've enjoyed every page; very well written. Mr. Karpyshyn has even annouced that he will be releasing another novel (late summer - early fall 2008) that will take place immediately following where the video game leaves off. I would have bought a 360 just to play Mass Effect. After finishing it some 50 hours in, my first instinct was to start playing it again. Amazing! I can't express just how good this game is. And it's had incredible competition for best game of the year. Truly an awesome year of gaming for me and my 360. @Mendon - cool, I'll definitely check out that novel. Lord Helmet #7 Posted January 12, 2008 (edited) Finished it. The only real complaint I have is how short it was. I did most of the side quests and got it done in 27-28 hours. Great game. Great Ending. Can't wait for the sequel. Edited January 12, 2008 by Lord Helmet
+remowilliams #8 Posted January 12, 2008 The only real complaint I have is how short it was. I did most of the side quests and got it done in 27-28 hours. Really? I did all the sidequests and I clocked quite a bit more time than that. Great game. Great Ending. Can't wait for the sequel. Yeah, epic hardly describes it. Red 5 #9 Posted January 12, 2008 Finished last night myself. I think I did all the side missions. The only ones I didn't finish is finding all the dog tags, metals, etc. I did get most of those though. 34 hours was my time for finishing. I would say that the main plot was definitely a little on th short side. I think if I did that and none of the sub plots it would be closer to 15 hours. But then I wouldn't have gotten to have sweet nookies with the blue chick. I was soooo Kirk-ish ! I can't believe I got achievement points for gettin' some. Is this the main reason why the game got a "M" rating? do they show something... the game sounds interesting... except for that part.... some things just need to stay out of video games... Not really, and 'this part' is quite interesting in the game. I see nothing wrong with the tackling of mature subjects such as these in a mature game. This isn't DOA tit jiggling and g-strings. According to the label it got its M for "Blood/Language/Partial Nudity/Sexual Themes/Violence" The 'sexual themes and nudity' in particular are ridiculous ratings, you can find more of that on network TV than in this game. One thing I really found great is Mass Effect's exploration of the concepts of morality and the shades of gray in between right and wrong throughout the game. I thought it was very well done. Nah, It's tastefully done. The game is interesting to say the least. Don't worry though, you won't be offend by the results of wooing the ladies. Makes me wonder why they tack on the "M' rating when it's not needed. Mass Effect and Halo 3 just don't look like "M" rated games to me.... not like Resident Evil and The Darkness, now those look like "M" rated games. -rick
Atari5200 #20 Posted January 15, 2008 maybe the M is for language, has anybody tried the game choosing only the ass-holish answers in the conversations, maybe there's some real colorful commentary there?? Other than that, I don't see the M rating either.
