8th lutz #1 Posted January 9, 2008 http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/09/uk-mcdon...ry-for-obesity/ McDonald's UK chief executive Steve Easterbrook said games are part of a "lifestyle element" that has led to a rise in childhood obesity. "There's fewer green spaces and kids are sat home playing computer games on the TV when in the past they'd have been burning off energy outside," he said. To be fair, Easterbrook didn't lay the blame completely at gaming's feet. "The issue of obesity is complex," he said, while also acknowledging that the government, the food industry, and good old personal responsibility have their part to play in solving the problem. I remembered hearing about this on tv this a couple days ago. I remembered mcDonald's targeting kids when I was growing up by their advertisements that involved the hamburglar in the 80's. They should be the last company to say something due to that reason. I am not big on that place based on how good their food tastes anyway.
rockman_x_2002 #2 Posted January 10, 2008 And of course, the Double-Quarter-Pounder Heart-Attacks-on-a-Bun don't contribute to that in any sort of way, I'm sure.
theking21083 #3 Posted January 10, 2008 I've been playing games since I was five and I have always been underweight. I would go outside sometimes and play but usually I would be in my room playing games all day. In my opinion genetics plays a huge role in obesity. I still have never weighed more then 150 pounds and I never exercise or watch what I eat. My entire family is skinny and my kids are the same way.
