MFoolsRun #1 Posted January 11, 2008 My wife regularly gives me a good natured hard time about how many duplicate systems I have lying around our game room. I've never been able to justify all the spare controllers and systems before, but last night it totally paid off: Had some people over, wanted to play 4-player Warlords on the 2600! Plugged in two sets of paddles, started up the game. Unfortunately the second set of paddles was jittery and unusable. Easy enough to fix, I've fixed five or six sets at this point, but not something I want to do in the middle of a party. So I went back over to my bins and pulled out another set of paddles, which worked great. Okay, so it's an anticlimactic story, but it made me feel good about having all that extra hardware hanging around!
Ghost Soldier #2 Posted January 11, 2008 (edited) I'm in the same boat when I pick-up controllers or extra systems. You never know when your going to need them. If I come across controllers usually at .99 they always come home with me. My wife doesn't say too much about it any more. She is supportive of all the game stuff I pick-up now. ATARIPITBULL #3 Posted January 11, 2008 I like collecting different controllers CIB for my 2600 collection and I don't keep dups of those, but I do keep extra controllers "(not boxed)" around in a container just incase the ones connected to my 2600 go bad. shadow460 #4 Posted January 12, 2008 I picked up a second wireless 2600 receiver last month just so we could use the wireless sticks on our Flashback 2 in addition to the 7800. I'm too lazy to drag wires from the couch to the TV. I guess I deserve a cake for that one...
Ace_1 #5 Posted January 13, 2008 I use extra hardware(all dead) for spare parts in case a working system craps out on me.
