Got the Xbox 360 Arcade bundle!

Recommended Posts

Hi folks....

finally I decided and got the Arcade bundle. They didn´t have the other bundles at my local Walmart. So, I guess I have to invest in a HD sooner or later.

But for now....Do the new Falcon boards don´t come with 3 years warranty anymore? I found a flyer inside the box convincing me to buy the service plan which extends the 3-month warranty to a 2 years!?

Now I try to go online. Let´s see how it works.

All Xboxes come with the three year warranty covering "Red Ring of Death" Syndrome (three red lights). Everything else is covered for one year. The flyer is included with all models, as I received the same flyer. I think the Warranty info. book that comes with the 360 states that the warranty is for a year, and online you'll find the RRoD 3-year Warranty. Go to www.xbox.com and poke around there for warranty info.

Also, make sure to check your 360 carefully to ensure that it is, indeed, a Falcon. The reason I say this is that I thought I had a Falcon unit myself, but after a little research I've found it's a Zephyr (excusable mistake since I'm new to the 360). You can figure out which model you have from the first post here: http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?p=10330306

Even though mine's a Zephyr, it doesn't seem to run very hot at all (even after being turned on for a while). Around the same temp as my gaming laptop or a little cooler.

Thanks for the info. I´ll have to check this out. The only 203W I found on the power brick as output. Does this mean it is a non-Falcon? Haven´t had the chance yet to do the other steps.

I just ended my first gaming session (TDU, if someone mind). Very sweet graphics, gameplay. Looks like I bought a $3000 PC....lol.

I´m not sure about the HD, though. While it is nice to download demos and stuff, I really don´t care too much about that. I think I will stay happy longer with the memory stick than I thought.

By the way, can I turn off the audio chatting of others players with headset? Kind of annoying.

Thanks and cheers!

TDU is a great game!! The new Burnout that is coming kind of reminds me of TDU so I would snag that if you are enjoying it.

Yeah, you can turn off audio chat with other players. I'm sure I missed a few ways but here are some ways to do it.

You can either set the voice output to be outputted by the headset and not wear it.

Or you can mute a person ingame if you want to hear chatter from teammates in something like a fps and only one person is being annoying.

Or you can go to your recent players list and select a player that was annoying if you want to otherwise hear other people, and mute them permanently there.

Or you can mute everyone across all games by doing the following:

1. Go to xbox.com and sign in to your live account.

2. Go to "My Xbox" located in the upper right drop down tab.

3. Under "Gamer Profile" go to "Privacy settings".

4. Under Voice and Text select "Friends Only".

Then everyone is muted except people on your friends list, and there are other options there as well.

Wow, thanks......Another annoying Microsoft "we want you to do it our way"-feature, me thinks. It should be easy enough to turn off voice completely...But the way they manage it, the almost force it (they would say it´s a gameplay feature).

Are there any Atariagers still on TDU?

Microsoft didn't make TDU. It's an Atari game.

Shutting off strangers voice chat takes about 5 seconds. Just follow Atariboy's directions.

I play TDU from time to time, I got on a kick a few weeks back, have moved on to other games since then though. I have too many unplayed games laying around.

Tell me about it. Just from Christmas I have Bioshock, The Darkness, and Metroid Prime 3 still sealed and untouched. I have only completed Portal out of all of "The Orange Box" content. While I completed HL2 on the XBox I started going through it on the 360 and will go through the two episodes as well. I started Mario Galaxy as well. I am also considering picking up Mass Effect. I just don't know where I am going to find time to play all of this.

I thought that the voice functionality and how it is handled is a general MS feature on the box!?

Today is day 3 with my shiny new Xbox and I haven´t even touched the included arcade games. I still can´t believe that I´m actually "next-gen" now. Was only twice in my life blessed being with current systems. In 1990 Amiga 500, in 1996 PSone.

The difference between TDU and most other games, is if your hooked up to the internet and want to play TDU, there will be other people in your game. Real people that gab, even if you're just wanting to tool town around solo with no one around. The fact that Atari made a game that is just constantly populated with other Live users is totally their own. Burnout Paradise will be the same way I believe.

The function to shut down those other peoples voices in that game when your driving around and don't have you headset on is a feature of the Xbox, just check out Atariboy's suggestions to turn them off. They take a couple seconds, not a huge deal really.

I have to try it. It just sound like it´s not wanted by MS to turn off this feature completely with just one click.

I´ll do.

BTW, I finally got to play Pac-man CE: it really refines the gameplay, best Pac-Man ever easily. Love it. Just have to get another controller since the MS D-pad is crap.

Boom Boom Rocket is my first taste of the rythm genre and I like it a lot. Can forsee a great future for such games in my household.

Fishing Frenzy, well, not too much my taste.

Luxor2: very nice gameplay idea.

Uno: haven´t tried it yet

Solitaire: not a fan of Solitaire in general.

My only arcade game I bought on marketplace is Sensible World of Soccer. Anyone into it? Great retro soccer.
