BSA Starfire #1 Posted January 12, 2008 Got my PS3 a few weeks back and it's great! What I want to know is what is with the two Need for Speed games though??? Carbon is actually worse than the PS2 version, the graphics are hardly any better on the ps3, but the game itself has less features! Only one starting girl on the PS3, the comments from your wingmen are far more limited and don't make any sense most of the time, the same with the police radio, the car AI is also better on the PS2. Pro-street on PS3 is an absolute shambles, it crashes, doesn't work online without a patch that doesn't exist in the UK, has a pathetic framerate than can render it unplayable and also corrupts its save game file so you loose everything. It's bloody awful! Now I don't know what these games are like on Xbox 360 or Wii but the PS3 versions should never have seen the light of day, they seem unfinished at best. Anyone played the other next gen versions and care to comment. To be honest I feel totally ripped off as both games received good review scores with no mention of the problems. It's the last cash EA are getting out of me for the forseeable future, BAH
+HammR25 #2 Posted January 12, 2008 It's EA. That's pretty normal.
JamesD #3 Posted January 13, 2008 They are still working out their game engine at your expense.
ninjarabbit #4 Posted January 13, 2008 EA hasn't gotten the hang of the "next gen" yet. Their 360 and Wii offerings have been pretty subpar too, it's not just their PS3 stuff. It ususally takes EA a few years to get used to a new generation., it's happened with the PS1 generation and the PS2 generation too.
JamesD #5 Posted January 13, 2008 EA has been doing PC games for some time, there's no excuse for 360 games to have issues.
+HammR25 #6 Posted January 13, 2008 the 360 doesn't use an Intel chip like the original Xbox.
Hyper_Eye #7 Posted January 14, 2008 the 360 doesn't use an Intel chip like the original Xbox. Yet it is easier to program for. MS made excellent development tools for the XBox and the tools for the 360 are said to be even better. Developing a game for the 360 is very similar to development for a PC. As for ppc, I write applications on x86 running Linux and port them to a ppc running OS X all the time. Generally the application will compile with no changes. Of course I write with portability in mind but the fact remains that MS has made the developers jobs much easier then Sony ever has.
warmachine #8 Posted January 14, 2008 Or it could be that EA just sucks and anyone who buys games from them are fools.
Jess Ragan #9 Posted January 14, 2008 Hmm... you're getting warmer! I remember people having the same issues with the early Tiger Woods golf game for the Xbox 360. It was gorgeous, sure, but it had a fraction of the courses available in the Playstation 2 version. Thanks, jerks!
