Atlantis II

Alright now....what's the deal with Atlantis II?? I know it's a rare game, a 10 on the rarity guide here on AA. But is there a difference in game play from the original? And the label on the cart itself! Is the label the same as the original? If so, how does one know the difference from one another? How many Atlantis II carts exist?

The scoring font and amounts are different since it was used for a contest. It also may be a bit harder (not sure about that though). Other than that, it looks and plays like a normal Atlantis cart.

Basicly the scoring is just different. Very hard to tell the difference unless you play it. I think there are like 12 found.

We played Atlantis in the HSC a while ago. A few guys who could score over 1 million points also played Atlantis II, it is much harder than the original game.

Different Font, Scoring, and Starts out MUCH faster/more difficult. I was able to roll over the score in Atlantis, but A2 kicked my butt.

I played this on an emulator. It is a lot faster. The scoring font is a little different. From what I know, the night scene was used for the cart case. That's of the three I've seen.

Yup, same here. During the Atlantis HSC week I could get several million points in Atlantis. However, my top in Atlantis II was a mere 559. The game play starts MUCH harder/faster and then keeps increasing to insane speeds.

Seriously, Atlantis II holds an interesting place in video game history given how it came about as a gaming competition. There's a fair amount of info on AA if you search around the threads, some of it definitive and some of it speculative.
