Rev. Rob #1 Posted January 20, 2008 So, I got a new 2600, a 6 switch. I still have my 2600 Jr. and my Flashback 2.0, but I didn't feel like moding my Flashback to take carts, and he 2600 Jr. just isn't the same as the system that I grew up with as far back as I can remember, so I bought this one. Anyways, I am breaking out some old 2600 games and having fun. I have a sealed copy of Vanguard, you know, this game? So, I figure fuck it, even sealed this game isn't worth five bucks, so I open it up. When I look inside the box, I am like, What the Shit?!? The cartridge is disassembled, and there's no PCB inside. So, 26 years ago when this thing was sealed and shipped out, did Atari really forget to put the game inside the case and put the thing together? That sucks a bunch of donkey balls. (Hmm... maybe I've been watching too many 'Angry Video Game Nerd' videos.) Anyone else have a similar experience?
opeygon #2 Posted January 20, 2008 never. but you just experienced my worst nightmare. this is the quandry that we all face as collectors and gamers. is there really anything in the box? i am usually pretty reluctant to buy a sealed game, though i do have quite a few. that sucks man. sounds like you got robbed. i highly doubt that it left the factory that way. sorry to hear that

Rev. Rob #6 Posted January 20, 2008 Were the labels included with the cart or was the cart blank? Ya, it had te labels, manual, a buyers guide... everything that you would expect, except for the one thing that I mentioned earlier.
ATARIPITBULL #7 Posted January 20, 2008 I know it kind of suck to not have the game board in the cart but you have to look at it this way. You have a very rare Atari item now in your collection!!!
thomasholzer #8 Posted January 20, 2008 give it to Al, he needs some empties
Red 5 #9 Posted January 20, 2008 I always open my sealed boxes. (Gently with a razor blade and keep the plastic on.) Reason one is because I play my games. Reason two is that I don't believe the value of a new 'sealed' game will bring much higher of a price than a mint game with the shrinkwrap still on it. Just gently opened. Actually, as a buyer, I would rather bid on the open with shrinkwrap on it. This just assures me that the game is in there.

carmel_andrews #12 Posted January 21, 2008 You could always write to infogatari and ask for a new game (and return the empty cart) Perhaps your cartridge innards ended up with the 5 million or so ET unwanted's (in some new mexico landfill)
jboypacman #13 Posted January 21, 2008 That is strange indeed but i guess it happens. You have yourself a unique item in your collection now which is a good way to look at it i guess.
