what do you think of my new paint job?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure you remember my post about finding a free Nintedo VS. Super Mario Bros. I have been in the process of fixing it up and decided that since the side art was all ripped off that I would give this cabinet a new look. Let me know what you guys think.

I painted the black on the front of the cabinet because it was wearing off and looked ugly. Now it looks brand new.

I decided to get rid of that ugly blue color and give it a more updated look. I painted both sides with candy apple red and then hand painted the Nintendo logo.

I still have a few things left to do before I am complete. I have ordered all new buttons for it and am going to order new T-molding next. I am also going to order new coin plates for the front when I get the money, they are $45 a piece so that will be a little later. I am also going to make a new marquee that has the Nintendo logo on it. That when I get new game boards for it I won't have to change the marquee.

Edit: I added the VS. UniSystem under the Nintendo logo.

Looks good to me. That 'ugly' blue color, though, is sort of a nintendo trademark.

Anyway, Great Job!

I thought about keeping the blue and just getting new side art for it. Then I decided that this was the perfect opertunity to make it look better. I still might add some more art to the sides when I find something that I like.

Looks great

Now you can buy a Popeye and Mario bros Board and make it a multicade (you just have to plug in the PCB you want to play, only takes a few seconds). IIRC you can rotate Nintendo monitors fairly easy as well so you could run DK and DK jr in it as well or even the dreaded Donkey Kong 3 (which I happen to personally like)

I noticed that my cabinet used to be a popeye game. It has all of the instuctions and schematics on the inside of the arcade. I know that I have to rotate the screen for DK but is their anything else that has to be done to convert it? What about Mario bros do I have to do anything for that one or can I just plug it in and play? Thanks for the compliments guys I am in the planning stages of adding more to it I just need to make sure that I get it exactly how I want it first.

Whoops, I think I made a mistake.

Vs Nintendo cabs have different pinouts, you can change it to another vs game though which has a decent selection. My fault, I was thinking SMB was the original Nintendo pinout.
