Working 32x third party replacement cable!

Recommended Posts

Hi, everyone!

I recently got a hold of a 32x (my second, I lost one in a move years ago). I was excited but this 32x, like most, didn't have the necessary pass-through cable to connect to the Genesis.

I did some reading on making my own, but I'm no solder...er... and didn't want to fry either the 32x or my Genny.

Then I came across this. This fit the bill for the Genny2 version of the pass-through cable. I researched all I could, but couldn't find any information on whether the pass-through cable was straight-through or cross-over in some way. At $8 I took a stab and ordered it.

That was Friday. It arrived today. I plugged it in, and it works! I just played some Star Wars Arcade on it!

This cable will connect a 32x to a Model 2 Genesis. The cable needed to connect to the model 1 is custom and we're unlikely to find a source for them outside custom making them.

I know there are a ton of people out there with cable-less 32x'es, so I hope this information comes as good news to you. It sure made my day!

I've been holding onto my Star Wars arcade for years hoping to come across a 32x, now I know where to get the cable for it, thanks for the link!

That's good news. I'm glad to hear that you were able to get a cable for your 32X. Fortunetly for me I still have my cable and the extra cable for the Genesis 1 from when I bought my 32X brand new.
