+Larry #1 Posted February 1, 2008 I had Atari810 running this AM, because it's SIO monitor is a little more comprehensive, and on a lark, decided to see if APE USB and Atari810 COM1 could co-exist. Surprisingly, they seem to work well together (in limited testing). I'm not sure why anyone would really need to do this, but hey, it works... -Larry
retrobits #2 Posted February 1, 2008 Hey Larry, thats an interesting configuration... out of curiosity what are you running on the host side? XP or Vista or ??, 32 or 64 bit? Got an email the other day from someone having trouble with 810 and 64bit.... -Dan
+Larry #3 Posted February 1, 2008 (edited) Hey Larry, thats an interesting configuration... out of curiosity what are you running on the host side? XP or Vista or ??, 32 or 64 bit? Got an email the other day from someone having trouble with 810 and 64bit.... -Dan Hi Dan- Good to hear from you! I'm running XP Home, with a Core 2 Duo cpu. I haven't run it too much, but the only significant issue that I've noticed still has to do with 3X (using the Black Box drivers). If the Black Box is set at 1X and A810 is set at 1X, it seems quite stable. If I launch it set at 3X and the BB is set at 3X, it hangs on the first transfer to/from an ATR. The hanging can be disrupted by pressing the BREAK key (usually), but if not corrected then the emulation process stops in A810. After the "hanging" is corrected, then all transfers are fine at 3X. Or -- if I try to switch settings from 1X to 3X, it hangs, usually fatally. Switching speed seems to be a significant issue (with the BB, at least). IIRC, A810 worked very well at 2X using the Sparta drivers, but I rarely use Sparta or APE Warp -- it's just too handy to use the BB. I just noticed this. A810 doesn't seem to update its drive tables correctly. For instance if I add a new (real) drive and hit RESET, A810 still doesn't "see" the drive (and echo its SIO commands) even though MyDos adds the drive correctly. It has a couple of other small "features" that would be nice to change, but nothing very serious, and the SIO monitor works really well (with the exception of a "new" drive). If you ever decide to work on it some more, I'd be more than happy to test for you. Hope things are well with you and yours. -Larry Edited February 1, 2008 by Larry
