INP and CIN graphics

Recommended Posts

Funny, I never made this collection, and I'm there as the author ;)

Anyway, CCI is dead, I don't plan to support it further - you can convert the files to raw CIN using CIN12.COM - press ESC, load CCI and save CIN...

and if you are to draw something, don't use the CIN program - use Lepix, it supports both CIN and INP... Zoom in CIN is priceless...

Thanks Fandal , Eru. A few days ago, I rediscovered this format and it looks very promising and interesting. Just I'm using Lepix, i´m impressed with this great tool, it's outstanding and I believe is the best 8-bit painting tool.

Afaik,

INP = Gr. 15 mixed/interlaced with Gr. 15 (up to 7 colors in 160x192)...

old CIN = Gr. 15 mixed/interlaced with Gr. 11 (up to 64 colors in 160x192)...

new Lepix CIN = almost the same as CIN but with 160x200 pixels...

Now, old CIN vers. 1.0-1.2 used 160x192 pixels and a filelength of 132 sectors (there was a 512 byte header or something)...

whereas new Lepix CIN uses 160x200 pixels and a filelength of 129 sectors (no such header)...

The newer Lepix CIN pics cannot be loaded with the older CIN 1.0-1.2 viewer (and some other viewers, like MegaPlayer, etc.),

not sure if the older CIN pics can be loaded with Lepix CIN... maybe someone should do a converter or something...

Last not least the Color JPEG converter by Raphael Espino allows to save/convert *.JPG pics into CIN format (have no tried it yet, so I am not sure if CJPEG supports the old CIN or new Lepix CIN format)...

Attached you will find some old CIN and INP pics from my collection... -Andreas Koch.

CpegView saves in the older CIN format, 192 lines. I tried loading them in Lepix 0.2.0 and it has options to load and save both types of CIN file, so it should be possible to convert between them.

I could add support for saving in the 200 line CIN format to the next version on CpegView.
