Anybody know what this box was for?

I just bid, and lost, on an item that I hadn't seen before for the Atari 2600. There is a green box in this lot that says "Video Game Program". Anybody know what this is?

Dunno, green boxed games were Blackjack, Football, Codebreaker, Golf, Surround, Flag Capture, Casino, Championship Soccer, Othello and Concentration any others?). The ones in bold look the closest match to the green in the pic. Seeing as it's only the box i guess it could have been a shop promo box or something.

I wonder if it could have been filler for that case even? I would have liked to have seen more pictures.

Hopefully something really cool or else someone just way overpaid for a bunch of common empty boxes.

I'm posting a pic of the box from the auction for those who are adverse to evilBay or just too lazy...you know who you are! It's the green one with Video game Program on the spine.

On yours it looks like when you bend that top flap down it would stick out past the game box, but on the mystery auction it doesn't stick out. I think you're right though - this is what it is, just a different box style.

 

The auction winner lives in Austria, so this mystery box is going far away now.
