CV White Label Fathom/Dragonfire.

Recommended Posts

I accidently asked this in the 2600 forum, now ill ask it it the correct forum. How come my 2 CV carts are WHITE LABELS instead of the usual text or picture ,color, silver-foil labels that Imagic has for their other games? The 2 games are Fathom and Dragonfire, and ive never seen those 2 games in the usual Imagic color/ silver label. They were both advertised as NTSC,and work great like all the other CV carts i have.Did they do it to save money ala Jack Tramiel?

I have a Time Pilot like that. Generic white label, slightly different case than other CV carts. There's a thread about these from about 2 years ago but I can't seem to find it in the search.

I also have a Time Pilot with white label. It's still sealed in a blister pack with a plain grey cardboard backing. Not sure where they were originally sold.

I'm talking about the "IMAGIC"CV Fathom and Dragonfire.Let me elaborate more.Although my 2 CV Imagic carts are white label, they're not generic, they are factory made. The label is semi gloss white with light yellow and grey, horizontal graphics across the front, and the text is black. The Fathom cart is #-720066-1,the Dragonfire is# -720065-1.They are legit Imagic carts and labels.I wish i had a cam to post pics.Maybe Imagic just went the cheap way,i gather those nice foil labels cost a heck of alot more to make.If you look on Ebay, you'll see them every once in a while very rarely though, and you'll see them as the carts i decribed above, they're all like that.I was just wondering if they are more rare, cus ive never seen an Imagic CV cart with that label design, cus they're both hard as F#$%K to find.I think it was just to cut down costs.

I know what they look like, and yes they are rare. But none of the Imagic releases for ColecoVision had foil labels...

The Nova Blast label was about as colorful as they got. After that, they switched to the black/white or black/yellow labels.

The boxes aren't foil either...they're flay grey.

Regarding your Fathom and Dragonfire labels, I have the following three variants amongst my Imagic original releases for the CV. In the plain black and white label on the left I have Moonsweeper and Wing War, in the central colour label I have Moonsweeper and Nova Blast and in the White and Yellow label I have Fathom and Dragonfire. I have also seen Tournament Tennis in the black and white label.

I have never seen the Imagic foil labels used with CV carts.

Telegames also later produced some Imagic carts with shiny silver labels with black text.

My Wing War box is indeed flat grey, however both my Nova Blast and Moonsweeper boxes are nice shiny foil ones.
