Backwards Compatibility - What's Missing?

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to get a general Idea of what games people still want of the 360 Backwards Compatible list. I started a similar topic over at GameSpot. So far I've gotten:

-Area 51

-Dino Crisis 3

-Castlevania: Curse of Darkness

-Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

-The Suffering: Ties That Bind

-Midtown Madness 3

-Rallisport Challenge 2

-SSX Tricky

-Def Jam: Fight for NY

-Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

-Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones

-Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance

-The Warriors

-Fight Night: Round 2

-Fight Night: Round 3

-The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay

-Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood

-Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30

-The Godfather

-Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure

-NBA Street

-NBA Street Vol. 2

-Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy

-James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing

-Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance

-Metal Slug 3

-Metal Slug 4/5

Now to me, These are alot of omissions that really need to be fixed. One glance at the List I have now and you will see alot of highly regarded, highly rated quality games. Why is it that this many good games are not on the BC List yet? Anyway, I want to get the ball rolling, What games that aren't on the BC List do you think need to be added?

I have yet to play an Xbox game on my 360 mainly because I have too many 360 games sitting on the shelf I haven't played, plus I have my original Xbox so to me I don't care if they add any really.

I like the feature, but don't have much use for it either since I still own a original Xbox.

I would like to see the emulation of Project Gotham Racing 2 improved and for RalliSport Challenge 2 to be emulated, since they're my two favorites from the original Xbox and I'd like to see them added to the Xbox Originals lineup. If there were no frame rate issues and other annoyances, I'd buy them in order to play them upscaled on my 360 and knowing that they're there ready to played anytime I get the urge when I'm playing the 360, like a XBLA game, rather than changing disc.

Of course, I still own both so even that is of little concern to me, plus I only have less than 2 gigs or so of free space left anywyas And there's car licenses that would have to be renewed I suspect, so that probably won't be happening anyways.

Mmm, well giving my Xbox collection a quick once-over I'd definitely like to see Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath added to the list, as it's a great game and a fairly big name (although it was, admittedly, a huge flop). Apart from that, I'd like to see both Xyanide and Pinball Hall of Fame added, but even if they were still doing BC updates I wouldn't be holding my breath for niche titles like those.

Most of the games I wanted BC have been added over time. The only one I can really think of is Serious Sam 2. I see people say that they have never used the BC or that it is just a novelty they put a game in and say "Cool!" when they see it work. I played Halo 2 and Half-Life 2 all the way through on 360. These are games I purchased for XBox but never got a chance to play through. Serious Sam 2 was one I was very excited about and got on day of release but I never did play through it.

I think that I've only ever used the BC feature a few times. I know that I played Manhunt on the 360. Normally, I just use my original Xbox.

However, for the sake of this topic, I don't think that the X-Men Legends games are BC compatible yet. Those would be two for me. And The Warriors wouldn't be bad.

I think the things that would REALLY be kool for BC is:

Full functioning Live games that were on the original XBox still work on the 360 (I understand a few here and there don't support Live when they did on XBox-for the most part, most still do?)

Adding achievement to the original XBox games. That would probably be kinda hard without going into the original game's code,I'd think.

Actually All BC games that had Live on the original Xbox have it on 360. This wasn't true at the 360's launch but thankfully they have fixed that.

I'd love to play my X-box games on the 360, but I'm really to paranoid too (red ring of death, exploading drives, etc) I actually do have a use for BC,as my original X0box is now on it's last legs. I could probably get it fixed cheap, and that may be the way to go, since it would have no issues with x-box games, and no red ring of death or any of that.

Well since I have an original Xbox, it's just being nit-picky about having all the bases covered. Still, out of my collection, including games already on the "not supported" list above:

  • Castlevania: Curse of Darkness
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
  • Myst IV: Revelation
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars / Tetris Worlds (pack-in disc)
  • Virtual Pool: Tournament Edition

Any idea if a UK Xbox 360 can download UK BC updates from a North American location, and if it supports US harddrives and US controllers such as the wireless wheel? I suspect the answer to all of that is yes, besides the power supply. I'd hate to import this and not be able to download UK updates if it realizes what region I'm in.

Any idea if it could be hooked up to a US computer monitor that has component and hdmi and works well with US Xbox 360's? Or will it be using different wires compared to ours and/or PAL issues even on a PC monitor (Hoping regular component cables could work on it)?

I'd like to import Richard Burns Rally for the Xbox and a European Xbox 360 without hd sometime to play it (360 so I can use the wireless 360 wheel).

Probably should just get the PC version but for some reason I've always wanted the Xbox port.

Edit - I see UK Xbox 360 Arcades ship with HDMI, I suspect all this should work? There's also a few UK DVD's I'd like to be able to play that I can't on my current players.

The UK BC is far worse than you have in the USA, only about half at best of the titles you can play work here in PAL versions. I for one would like a decent level of BC here in europe.

Best regards,

Chris
