Bionic Commando Rearmed is now out

I never played Bionic Commando in the arcade and when the trailer first started I was a bit underwhelmed with the original but what they've done to update it looks pretty darn cool.

Actually, the game shown at the beginning of the trailer is the NES version, not the arcade version. In my opinion, the NES version is vastly superior to the original arcade version. The NES Bionic Commando is still my favorite game. I'm actually very surprised at just how excited I am to take on the Rearmed version. I'm much more excited about Rearmed than I am for the new Bionic Command game that is being made.

This game is out now and it's getting killer reviews.

I've seen it called the best game on Xbox Live....a pretty bold statement.

I plan on trying it out for sure.

I downloaded it this morning and tried it a little bit but I need to leave for work. I still need to figure out the controls. Looks like it's going to be a good one.

Back to BC: Rearmed.....

 

This game seriously kicks a lotta ass. The music, the graphics, the gameplay......everything. The thing that sucks is I got stuck on the first boss. I figured you had to hit him with the blue barrels but that wasn't working too well and I figured his underbelly was the only vulnerable spot but you can't shoot up. I got impatient and quit after I lost two lives trying to figure it out.

I haven't even made it to the first boss yet. I keep jumping off stuff I shouldn't. The arm can be difficult to control with the left analog stick. I'm having a hard time finding the diagonal direction. Works better with the D-pad but it's not my habit to use that.

Just as an aside (and NOT to start a system war), I just got through reading that the PS3 version of BC:Rearmed supports Remote Play, which means if you own a PS3 and PSP you can go portable with the game!

There's a command center or whatever they're called where you find out the only weakness for that thing is throwing a barrel into the engines. You have to somehow throw the barrels into the thrusters then shoot the back of the engine when it crashes. Then do it all over again..............somehow. I can't ever seem to hit the thrusters again after I do it once.

 

Going up on the second level just seems like a good way to die quickly.

You have to climb to the top of the stage, then throw one of the barrels at the prototype's weak point. It's not easy- the prototype fires off a round of shots every five seconds- but once you hit the mean green machine with the barrel for the second time, it's as good as dead. You just close in on it as it lays motionless and fire away until it explodes.

 

Just to warn you, all of the bosses are like this. Hammering the fire button won't do the job... you'll have to use your bionic arm to outsmart them. Remember, you can grab certain objects like screws and pull them out by rapidly tapping the arm button.

 

EDIT: Wow, you think the second stage is hard? Just wait until you reach the end of the game with its trap door platforms. Arrgh!

Now the first one is pretty easy. Just put barrels on the red spots. The first time it's on the bottom. The second time it's on the top.

Funny you say that...........because that's the exact thing I thought. I actually was expecting a bloodfest the way they threw that 'M' rating up on the screen like that. I kinda chuckled to myself after I played and saw nothing at all.

p.s. Braid was o.k...... but it wasn't great. And it wasn't worth that many points. It had some annoying puzzles and nice Prince of Persia-esque effects but thats all. I don't know why everyone's been ranting and raving about it all over the web.
