Ahhhh, back in the saddle and it feels to good!

Recommended Posts

I am just thrilled. I recently aquired my new case for my 520STE case from Best, along with the correct (new) floppy drive. You may have seen my wanted ad in which I was wanting to restore my 520STE back to it's glory (as it is in a nasty yellowing 1040STF case top and old style floppy).

Best came through for me (though, as with anything that you get from them, you pay for it!). New 1040STE case, correct floppy and even the 4160STe foil label for the top of the case (that Atari printed up, but never used). So now I have my 4160STe!

Plus, my hard drive woes are over. I won this one from eBay the other night:

My "new" 520MB hard drive

I haven't fooled with the OS9 partition yet. I am not used to having this much space, plus this fellow just had this drive jam packed with utilities and applications - many that I didn't have.

I was a bit nervous about it, but I was going to buy a 60MB megafile from B&C (which was going to cost $170 shipped). This was just too good a deal to pass up.

Now I am back to playing my favs (the Lucasfilm games that can be installed to the HDD) - Battlehawks, BOB:Their Finest Hour, Maniac Mansion....

I'm in heaven! I am feeling those warm fuzzy feelings of nostalgia taking over. I was probably one of the most devout ST users in the US back in the day, and it's great to have her back up and going.

Congrats, I also have a 4160STE it rocks!

I bet you paid a pretty penny for that drive, if you ever want to get a 1.44 drive get a Epson SMD 300/340 drive and swap the face plate--They are identical drives! Get TOS 2.06 as well. But if you want more compatibility with older ST games you should stay at TOS 1.6x.

Not bad on the drive $117 shipped for a 520 in a Supra 30mb case. It is a fujitsu.

I thought about upgrading to TOS 2.06, but my primary use is games, so I'll stick with my 1.6x

thanks
