so_tough! #1 Posted March 4, 2008 ? and .. Do you ever think its a waste having so much systems and games? Is it like the girl with a hundred pairs of shoes, who keeps on buying? Even though she knows that she wont get the use out of them? I HATE having things I don't use, it bugs me.
+remowilliams #2 Posted March 4, 2008 Games no, systems closer to a yes (in rotation). I'd have to hire people to get everything played.
Cobra Commander #3 Posted March 4, 2008 Theres never enough time, but the games wont spoil so you can play them many years down the road.
Atari5200 #4 Posted March 4, 2008 systems, I've played all my systems, can't say the same for games, and to answer your other question. No. I'm very passionate about this hobby and never consider it a waste of time, space, money, etc. I know my collection is only going to grow and will bring many many years of joy to myself and my son and even some day, I plan to leave behind my complete collection to my son to take over wherever I would be leaving off. DracIsBack #5 Posted March 4, 2008 I go in waves, myself. It will be all 7800 for a while. Then SMS. Then NES. Then XEGS. Then CoCo etc.
phaxda #6 Posted March 4, 2008 I find myself spending too much time organizing crap. Last night an overloaded shelf in my gaming closet collapsed because someone did an idiot job installing the brackets and then pulled them out of the wall by yanking on one of about roughly 26 coax cables. Oh wait, that was me. Took the VCR right in the forehead, for real. Because, you know, my TV has only coax inputs so I need to run some newer stuff through the VCR, which I have put on this shelf above the TV. So the shelf goes and the VCR nails me and all my NES games that were on this shelf come spilling out so I am swimming in them like the Scrooge McDuck of loose NES games. This is how my wife--alerted by the racket--found me, dazed and covered in games. She said "I think you have a problem." This morning I have spend a couple of hours rewiring everything for what seems like the 100th time and thinking why do I need all of this crap and why do I even need it hooked up? I spend more time cabling things than I do playing and then there is all the time on eBay and the Marketplace here and I've started collecting vintage audio equipment and I have to say that the good thing about that is you can at least LISTEN to it while you're doing other stuff. Short answer: no.
Emehr #7 Posted March 4, 2008 The cruel irony with my collection is that I only buy what I'll play (don't care about rarity, label variations, et. al.) but I don't have any time to play them all! I still have a few games in shrinkwrap from 3 or 4 years ago. At least I'll have something to do if/when I retire (since I suck at golf). As far as having stuff that I don't use, meh, doesn't bug me much as long as there's a possibility that someday I will eventually use it. If I know it will never serve a purpose, however, out it goes!
so_tough! #8 Posted March 4, 2008 Thanks for the answers and I hope more of you people answer !! I'm really anti consumerist and only got back into games late last year. I play all my games, ofcourse some less than others..But I only have a small collection (Pc engine,Tg16 and a Jaguar). I did win a cd 32 a while ago, but decided to back out of the sale and the seller was so nice about it. For the record, I was going to buy it if he wasn't understanding. I just thought , "do I need this". The answer was and is no. I don't like having things that I don't need.
joeybastard #9 Posted March 4, 2008 I go through waves with consoles. I'll get into a certain console and games for a couple of weeks and then switch to something else. Even so, I never get to all of the games I have and don't want to since over the years I've picked up some really crappy games on all of my systems. No point in playing something that stinks when there's something good right next to it on the shelf. About the only constant use ones are the DS, VCS and CV. Recycled #10 Posted March 4, 2008 I worry I'm neglecting the systems I'm not playing. I need to throw a towel over my vcs....I'm worried about the dust collecting on it.

Ryanw #12 Posted March 4, 2008 I don't have a ton of games, an average of 30 per system and I have around 10 systems, but I have gotten a chance to play almost every game since I accumulated them at a slow rate an at least tried the games as soon as I got them. joeybastard #13 Posted March 4, 2008 I've tried everything I have but if after a few games I'm not interested, it will probably sit on the shelf for a long while before I give it another go.
jboypacman #14 Posted March 4, 2008 I find time on my days off but i mostly like to play at night when Mrs.Jboy is asleep and the dogs are all settled down then plug in a system and game or two and play for a hour or so before i go to bed or watch a little TV. PressureCooker2600 #15 Posted March 5, 2008 I worry I'm neglecting the systems I'm not playing. I need to throw a towel over my vcs....I'm worried about the dust collecting on it. Same here, bud. My VCS is getting a wee bit dusty. I haven't even fired it up since January. There's never enough time, my friends.....never. That's the sad thing. They make tons of video games you want to play and you get them but never have time to play them ALL. It's a sad process. Oh well....maybe when we're all retired, we'll be able to sit on our asses all day and play video games until we die. But...that STILL wouldn't be enough time to play them all and enjoy it all.
