slosu #1 Posted March 5, 2008 I picked this game up this past weekend and had a little time last night to play and I have to tell you....I was AMAZED!!! This by far has to be the best COLECO game I've played on the Atari 2600!!! Suprisingly the controls are awesome and the graphics are great for a game that's over 20 years old! I wasn't expecting much but this game is great! Is this game in the "100 Top Atari Games" list? It has to be. +Psionic #3 Posted March 6, 2008 I've played the arcade original on the Konami compilations, but I actually own neither the VCS nor ColecoVision versions of this game. I just never could get into it.
aftermac #4 Posted March 6, 2008 Yeah, just a little bit... We recently played this in the HSC: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=120896
StanJr #5 Posted March 6, 2008 BIG love for Roc n' Rope. Had it as a kid, and while the overall "story" of the game was pretty nuts, we loved playing it. Still do today, as it gets regular play. The later levels get really difficult and the dinos become nearly invincible.
Rik #6 Posted March 6, 2008 (edited) I cant understand why this game is not more liked.I have the CV version, and its amazing, one of the best for CV IMO.Reviews of it havent been too good,so I bought it anyway. It just made my belief of not listening to critics,or reviewers even stronger.Everyones tastes are different,I for example, could never get into River Raid, which everyone seems to love, not a bad game, just doesnt hold my interest that long. Then they can say the same thing about Roc n Rope, whatever suits your taste,I guess. Zwackery #7 Posted March 6, 2008 I like the arcade version best, followed by the CV port, but the 2600 is kind of fun to play, too.
Crazy Climber #8 Posted March 6, 2008 I have to admit that I pretty much hate the 2600 version of Roc n Rope....sorry The Coleco version is pretty good though.

jboypacman #10 Posted March 6, 2008 I havnt played the 2600 version yet but i do have the Colecovision version which is neat but it doesnt see much play from me.
joeybastard #11 Posted March 6, 2008 I like the VCS version but I LOVE the CV version. I always liked RnR in the arcade so when it came out on the CV, I was jonesin' to bring it home. It still gets a lot of play today.
Tempest #12 Posted March 6, 2008 I LOVED the arcade game. I can remember going to the rollerskating rink just to play this, Mr. Do, and Crossbow (I had to wear the skates to be tall enough to play that one though). However for the longest time I couldn't remember the name of this game, so when MAME came out I started looking through game screenshots until I found it. It wasn't until even later that I found out that there was a 2600 version of the game, and was many years after that before I got a copy. The 2600 version is alright, but nothing compares to the arcade version. Tempest
slosu #13 Posted March 6, 2008 No doubt about it....the arcade version is better. And even though I have not tried the CV version, that may be better too. All I was saying is that "to me" it is the BEST Coleco game for the VCS and that is plays very well. For those of you who have not played this one...give it a shot you will NOT be disapointed! I wasn't!
Godzilla #14 Posted March 7, 2008 Yea, I was hugely impressed with this game's ability to capture the essence of the rock 'n rope gameplay. great game imho.
