so_tough! #1 Posted March 9, 2008 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=006 Anyone use one of these? I'm going to buy one tomorrow and hopefully it works!
darthkur #2 Posted March 9, 2008 Technically they "work" but don't expect vibrant colors. The one I have for converting PAL to NTSC I use with both an Amstrad CPC 464 and a Sinclair +2. It is still necessary to adjust the vertical hold to stop the picture from rolling which I find odd. You would assume that would be one of the primary functions of the device. Once that is accomplished a clear picture is produced but the colors are completely wrong and extremely limited. Everything is reduced to pale brown, blue and green. It's really not much better than monochrome. So yes, it will allow you to use a foreign console but it's a far cry from perfection. Your best bet, and mine for that matter, is to acquire a multi-signal television. Ironically I also have the NTSC to PAL device you are currently contemplating upon purchasing. In my haste to get one of these I selected the wrong one and didn't realize it until a while afterwards. I emailed the seller which in return responded that it was too late to change the order so I was forced to buy that one in addition the the one I actually needed. I'd offer you that one but I just looked at it and noticed that they included the US version of the A/C adapter for it so it wouldn't do you much good without some sort of adapter. Hope this helps in your decision.
so_tough! #3 Posted March 9, 2008 Thanks I have a pc engine which is ntsc and will only play in black and white on my tvs (they must only be pal) . I can either send it away and get it converted (will cost 40 pounds) or try this. I'm gonna try this first, I'll probably end up sending it away for conversion anyway, so it can be changed to rgb scart..
Vic George 2K3 #4 Posted March 9, 2008 I have a similar PAL to NTSC converter that I tried with my PAL-compatible SNES on a NTSC flat-screen TV set, and unfortunately it doesn't work. It says it requires a 50Hz-compatible NTSC TV.
mimo #5 Posted March 10, 2008 (edited) what tv do you plan to use it on? It says you need pal 60hz, and I think that any tv that bothers to do pal 60 would do NTSC. Have you thought about a VCR to run it through, many of the better ones will convert NTSC to PAL I believe. this link may help http://www.howtoconvert.co.uk/convntsc2pal.htm Another option is to use a computer monitor http://www.consolesandgadgets.co.uk/catalo...tin-p-1010.html Edited March 10, 2008 by mimo

Theres a few places , theres a site called console passion which does AMAZING conversions for pc engine, neo geo and Megadrive (as well as for others). If anyone is thinking of getting one of these systems or wants a conversion, go here!!! http://www.consolepassion.co.uk/ I'm going to send them an email, I don't want to spend money on this "converter" if it doesn't even work... Thanks guys for all the help
