Need help repairing an SF drive power pack

Recommended Posts

Basically, I took this power pack apart about a year ago to repair it, which I think I've done, but, I put the project aside for about a year, and I'd disconnected the plug/cable that goes to the drive. What I need help with is I forget which wires go to the +5V and +12V, between the red and blue, I'm pretty sure the black and white are the ground, and pretty sure the black goes with the red and white with the blue. If I'm wrong about which ground is which, please remind me of that too. I can't find any schematics online for this. I'm 99% sure the red is 12 volt and the blue 5 volt, but I want to know for sure so I don't burn out the drive. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I would use a VOM to check, but usually red is +5 and blue is +12v. Black is ground, and white is whatever is left :)

Thanks, but I can't use a VOM, I know which is +12 and +5 on the power adapter, it's the wiring that goes to it. You can't check wiring with a VOM until it's actually connected to power. I'll just have to take my chances, I'll try your way first, with red going to +5.
