Ranthulfr #1 Posted August 11, 2002 - Click here to review recent comic strips. Click here to view comic strips 1 thru 20 in order. Making comics is fun, but I'd rather be at Classic Gaming Expo! Ah well, maybe next year. An AtariAge comics section or forum would be awesome, by the way (in case we're voting).
AtariDude #2 Posted August 11, 2002 I have one of those electronic football games. Certainly was safer than playing the real thing (except maybe for my fingers ). Nice comic.
ATARIPITBULL #3 Posted August 11, 2002 I take it that by the boxes being wavy, that Nate is remembering his high school days?
AtariDude #4 Posted August 11, 2002 The Target store here locally was selling those Mattel football games recently. I don't know if they still have anymore left but I did manage to get one. I used to remember playing that game a lot when it first came out.
Ranthulfr #5 Posted August 11, 2002 I take it that buy the boxes being wavy, that nate is remembering his high school days? Yes, it's a flashback to his youth. Junior High School perhaps. The Target store here locally was selling those Mattel football games recently. I don't know if they still have anymore left but I did manage to get one. I used to remember playing that game a lot when it first came out. Mattel Football II had a green case, so I guess that's what I was thinking of when I did this strip. Seems like half the kids at school had an electronic football game at one point. Thanks for your comments, guys.
JCroniger #6 Posted August 11, 2002 I always wanted the original one, but my parents couldn't find it at the store (always sold out). They bought me a Coleco one instead.
Miles Tails Prower #7 Posted August 12, 2002 Heh. Those are great.
StanJr #8 Posted August 12, 2002 the strip is BRILLIANT. Very nicely done, and I too have that Mattel football game! I still play it on road trips!
Warren #9 Posted August 12, 2002 Another cool strip! I even dug out my Mattel Baseball today after I read this one (although I love my Mattel Football too!) Ahhh.... the early 80s....
SS #10 Posted August 12, 2002 I always wanted the original one, but my parents couldn't find it at the store (always sold out). They bought me a Coleco one instead. What you talking about, Willis? The Coleco "Electronic Quarterback" ones were better 'cuz of the pass/kick switch that you could switch on the fly. You weren't locked into one or the other from the beginning of the play. I'm still looking for a Coleco "Head To Head" unit to replace the one that I broke years ago. Nice comic, BTW!
DuckandCover #11 Posted August 12, 2002 When I found out that Mattel was producing its handheld electronic football game again, I ran down to the local Wal-Mart to buy one! Those old hand helds were great fun! Great strip, Randy! Please keep 'em coming!
Big Player #12 Posted August 12, 2002 Does anyone know if Mattel is going to bring back Football II? I've got the re-issued Classic Football (1) and I gave my brother Mattel's Baseball for Christmas last year. I want to see them bring back all those old handhelds. +Cafeman #15 Posted August 13, 2002 No palm pilots back when I was in school. We did have nifty little watches where you could shoot UFO's though. We were NOT allowed to use them, not even in Study Hall or Library. We still found ways to.

And the game companies aided and abetted us by inventing "silent mode". Pretty smart.
