DragonmasterDan #1 Posted March 20, 2008 I have a six switch, I know it was at one point refurbished. How do I determine if it's a heavy sixer. Like should I weigh it? Is there something in particular I should notice. I don't have another six switch to compare it to
+Nathan Strum #2 Posted March 20, 2008 Heavy: Light: Note the rounded front corners and thicker sides on the heavy.
Mirage #3 Posted March 20, 2008 (edited) On this one (my Sears heavy), see how the edges are super thick (compared with a light sixer)... also see how the black trim edges around the woodgrain at the bottom are rounded... those are the two easiest ways to tell a heavy sixer at a glance. Hope this helps. EDIT: Dang, I was too slow. Edited March 20, 2008 by Mirage1972
DragonmasterDan #4 Posted March 20, 2008 Here is mine, can anyone tell? It says manufactured in Sunnyvale. So maybe it's a heavy?
cosmosiss #5 Posted March 20, 2008 (edited) Light. Here's a pic of a heavy: Edited March 20, 2008 by cosmosiss
flammingcowz #6 Posted March 20, 2008 DragonmasterDan, yours is a lightsixer.
DragonmasterDan #7 Posted March 20, 2008 Light. Here's a pic of a heavy: I just looked at mine from the same angle, I don't see much of a difference. What am I looking for, the plastic looks just as thick on the side.
opeygon #8 Posted March 20, 2008 look closer. at the corners. say... just under and to the right of the atari logo. notice the rounded corners on the heavy sixer? notice how the corners on your light sixer are much sharper? notice the u-shaped heavy duty super thick black plastic molding? ...yours doesnt have that
DragonmasterDan #9 Posted March 20, 2008 look closer. at the corners. say... just under and to the right of the atari logo. notice the rounded corners on the heavy sixer? notice how the corners on your light sixer are much sharper? notice the u-shaped heavy duty super thick black plastic molding? ...yours doesnt have that Yeah, I see the difference in the corner sharpness. I guess because of the darkness of the last picture, I didn't see the difference in thickness of the plastic. Thanks
brucebidder #10 Posted March 21, 2008 If you have a heavy and a light sixer right beside each other in real life not just a picture it is super easy to tell, one is almost double the weight and has the super thick sides and heavy plastic bottom. Also isn't the heavy sixer missing the channel switch underneath? Can't remember exactly.. Bruce
A.J. Franzman #11 Posted March 21, 2008 Also isn't the heavy sixer missing the channel switch underneath? They were made both with and without it. There have also been reports of units having the case bottom with the channel select hole but no switch inside, and at least one of a unit with the switch but not the hole!
