5200 Power supply WANTED

Recommended Posts

Is this for collection purposes, or did your PS/switchbox die?

Mine died.

I always leave my 5200 hooked up and was recently playing Frogger. Yesterday, my friend came over with a pair of 5200 controllers that he wanted to test, but when I hit the power button...nothing.

It's a 4 port with the switchbox/power supply set up.

I then disconnected that and tried to power up my 2 port with the same power supply, but again, nothing. This is why I think my PS went bad.

Must be working of course ;)

PM me if you have a spare for sale or trade. Thanks!

You can buy a brand new one from Best Electronics for only $15 at http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/ and B&C Computervisions might have them too at that same price.

The 5200 power supplies come in two flavors though. 9.3V and 11.5V. So make sure you get the right one.

My 2-port uses the 9.3V power supply (the same as 810/1050 disk drives). And according to my Sam's service data on the 4-port 5200 it needs the 12V unit. Yeah, the output is actually 12.5 even though it says 11.5 on the box. =^.^=;;

Anyway, the part number you want should be CA019141.

Oh, you HAVE checked the fuse haven't you? There's a fuse in the power brick and if that's all it is then you don't need a new power supply.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Just a quick correction. I need to get some sleep. =~.~= *Yaaaaawwwn!*

The 810/1050 disk drives use a 9.3V AC power supply, not 9.3V DC power supply which is what the 2-port 5200 uses.

Sorry about that. =^.^=;;

Ok,

The PS I have that died is:

Part # C018187

Output: 9.3 V DC

I'm assuming then that I was using the wrong PS for my 4 port, correct?

Positive. =^.^=

That's a 2-port 5200 power supply.

The poor thing prolly died of heat exhaustion and is most likely beyond repair.

The two-port and four-port power supplies are interchangeable. They're rated at slightly different voltages most likey because Atari got a deal on a certain power supply at the time.

Thanks for the link to Best Electronics, but I was only looking to pay around $10 shipped for one.

I'd even work a trade if possible.

Still looking!

Tried the thrift shop yet? They usually have tons of power supplies. As long as you can get one that puts out 12 volts at about 1 amp, you're good to go. Hack the plug you have into it, and let it rip.

No luck at the thrifts, although I did find a box full of grimy 5200 games! Close but no cigar.

No loose Cosmic Swarm or Room of Doom carts to trade either.
