WTB: Mangia for Atari 2600

Recommended Posts

Hi, it's Nicola from gamesniped.com.

I'm looking for all the possible weirdest games. I'm actually in love with my Forest but I'm looking for more.

Next one is Mangia.

I need it, I'll pay with paypal. Boxed is preferred. Serious offer.

Nicola

I assume you want NTSC version? Or PAL? I do have a loose PAL version looking to sell...

FYi, a boxed PAL version typically sells for US$200-300. A loose PAL copy sells for between $20-$80. NTSC versions loose sell for over $1k

He's in Italy, so he'll probably want a PAL version (I hope!).

PAL is fine. I would prefere it boxed (the price isn't an issue)...if nobody has a boxed one, I'd take yours.

That's a tough one to get boxed on such short notice.

They pop up now and then. Atari2600.com had a MINT boxed one for $360 for the longest time. I came very close to getting it a few times but never did. Not sure who finally bought it? I think it is getting harder to find since NTSC collectors actually settle for this one in PAL format, I'm surprised since you think it would contaminate their precious NTSC stuff with PAL germs :D

I'm rolling 'em at the side-dealers.

What the hell is the difference? The seller seems to know the game is valuable, and it's not like Nicola is a reseller. He needs the game and made the seller an offer he can't refuse...big deal.

What are you rolling your eyes for? CPUWIZ is just doing his part to out those "Side Dealers". ;)

Pipster did, not me, I was taking an educated guess as to who got that particular side-deal. I could care less in this case too, would have probably done the same, if I needed it. :P

If it was that one, I wouldn't have a problem admitting the deal. But I know that the seller, who might have been very nice, might get reported. Even if I've asked for a BIN and offereed a fair 40 gbp. So it's not that one. ;)

I needed that game for the expo we have in may, along with some others I've bought from atari2600.com (another Forest, Karate, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Custer’s Revenge, Strawberry Shortcake) and some others I'm still looking for. If someone else wants a Mangia, ask Mayhem, he has one for sale for a good, similar price (but it's missing the booklet and I needed at least a booklet since a bare cart is not that great for an expo that should be pretty important in Italy...).

As for the other games, now I think I need Journey Escape and Aufruhr im Zoo!

ps I'm sorry if Ive damaged someone's plan.

I didn't roll my eyes, it doesn't bother me as i already have it. We all know who did the deal.

Nice: I've just discovered that the Mangia cart doesn't work.

I know that some of you will say: you deserved this!

But if someone can give a bit of piety and give me an hint...

When I turn the system on, the screen shows some colored vertical bars only, and a single sinusoidal sound. Every time I turn the system on, it changes a bit. The pins are clean. I've used 2 2600 Jr (PAL) and a 7800 (NTSC) with almost the same result.

I didn't open the cart since that would mean making holes on the label (I would do that only if useful).

I've seen this happen with upside-down chips or lose solder contacts. The first is very unlikely, but I would try to open the cart and inspect the chip to make sure is securely soldered. I've never opened a Spectra cart, but I assume you can peel off the label so you don't have to poke a hole.

I'm no expert, so I would wait for more suggestions from the more knowledgeable. The WIZ maybe?

If the contacts are nice and clean, the mask ROM is dead. It's almost guaranteed, although I have opened a few Spectra carts where the soldering looked like it was done by a blind man.
