supercat #1 Posted April 5, 2008 I grew up with the C64, and was thinking of porting Toyshop Trouble to that platform, probably keeping the same gameplay but enhancing a few of the graphics. Would anyone be interested in such a thing? What would be some good C64 forums to judge interest?

gklinger #4 Posted April 6, 2008 I've never played Toyshop Trouble but I'm all for new 64 games. I say go for it! Let me know if you need a tester.

Thanks for the recommendation. BTW, gklinger, what sort of 'infrastructure' exists for selling new 2600 homebrews? Anything equivalent to AA, where games get put on nicely-assembled carts? video game addict #7 Posted April 6, 2008 Thanks for the recommendation. BTW, gklinger, what sort of 'infrastructure' exists for selling new 2600 homebrews? Anything equivalent to AA, where games get put on nicely-assembled carts? You mean selling new C64 homebrews? I'm not too familiar with C64 homebrews myself, but I'm betting most are available on disk, or as free downloads, that can be transferred to your 1541 and then saved to disk. I haven't heard of any C64 homebrews on cartridge format.
Nognir #8 Posted April 6, 2008 I think TT for the C64 would be a great addition! I only know of a german group of programmers called Protovision. They make high end games for the C64 which mostly requires some additional hardware like the Super-CPU from CMD. They sell their games on discs. Maybe take a look at Metal Dust. This is amazing stuff.

This is amazing stuff. I think I'd just aim for the stock C64. What fraction of today's '64 owners use floppy, tape, MMC, carts, or other media? I'd be more motivated to make a game for a 'real' release than some download thing.

IMO releasing the game on Disk or Cart would be best.
