Gabriel #1 Posted April 7, 2008 Any other tactical RPGers/strategy gamers have any opinions on the following titles? Rondo of Swords (DS) = Looks like it could be really good, but the gameplay videos somehow make me nervous that it may not be all it's cracked up to be. Warhammer 40,000: Squad Commander (PSP) = Gameplay videos look a bit bland. Might be better for me to stick to Field Commander, but I'm not sure. Wild Arms XF (PSP) = I'm not a follower of the Wild Arms franchise, but tactical RPGs always draw me like a moth to flame.
moycon #2 Posted April 7, 2008 I love Tactics games, but haven't played any recently. The last one I played through was Band of Bugs. Unfortunately it seems like most tactics are on the handhelds, and I rarely get into them unless I'm on vacation or traveling.
PressureCooker2600 #3 Posted April 7, 2008 I'd like to know about Warhammer 40k, too......it came out for the DS, also. I was thinking of getting it if it got some decent reviews. Anyone played it?
liveinabin #4 Posted April 7, 2008 Final Fantasy Tactics is completely awesome, on PSP or GBA
Lord Thag #5 Posted April 13, 2008 Disgaea on the PSP is the best portable strategy option anywhere. Good luck finding it... Final Fantasy Tactics is also very fun. Field Commander is like Advance wars withe better graphics and a throwaway plot. Pretty good, and it's infrastructure online. D&D Tactics is supposed to be decent. R Type Tactics (!) is coming next month...
PressureCooker2600 #6 Posted April 13, 2008 I just got AW: Days of Ruin and it kicks ass!!! I just need some friend codes now. I just played someone online last night for about 45 minutes and they must have either surrendered or quit because the few units they had all exploded at once. I hope it recorded that as a win for me. It's all about defense in that game. Haven't gotten far enough to see if there's any CO powers or anything. I just passed the level where you are fighting the Lazurians and the Admiral keeps making some of your units immobile for a day. It's right after the 'History of Hate' level.
