crunchysuperman #1 Posted April 7, 2008 (edited) Just curious what everybody thinks is the most irritating oddball cartridge case design to deal with in terms of the storage/display of your collection. Obviously, this only applies to loose collections. edit: Supercharger cassette added to poll. I should have put that in there to begin with - sorry. BassGuitari #2 Posted April 7, 2008 (edited) As much as I like their games (most of them, anyway), I've gotta say M-Network. EDIT: Had I read the list more carefully, I might have voted for the Xonox double-enders...but for the most part I still think the M-Network cartridges are the most annoying. theking21083 #3 Posted April 7, 2008 I voted M-Network. They have that stupid lip that makes it imposible to stack.
+Psionic #4 Posted April 7, 2008 I dunno...I got rid of most of my loose carts.
+Ransom #5 Posted April 7, 2008 Definitely the M-Network ones. There was just no reason to do that.
Deteacher #6 Posted April 7, 2008 Looks like it's gonna be a landslide 'victory' for M-Network. I have to stack them seperately from the rest of my collection, and I have to stack them facing opposite directions. It's the only way I can get them to stack evenly. Great games...lousy cart design! Ugh!
Big Player #7 Posted April 7, 2008 I voted M-Network because those games are the most common of the listed choices. Collectors would most likely mix these in with their other common games. The other choices are rare, so you wouldn't put them with the rest of your common carts. Though Xonox single enders would come in second for me. The Konami and the Sega grip case both fit into my storage cases just like the other 2600 carts. No problems for me. With M-Network games, it's easier to just give them their own storage case or box. Tempest #8 Posted April 7, 2008 Those damn M-Network games. Not only are they impossible to stack, but they look so... weak. I'm sure Mattel saved thousands of dollars just attaching adapters to Intellivision cartridges, but the lack of a proper label really hurts. +Nathan Strum #10 Posted April 7, 2008 I went with CommaVid, only because they're too long to clear the lid on my kiosk. I don't own any Xonox double-enders. (I would have voted the SuperCharger, if it had been on the list.)
Red 5 #11 Posted April 7, 2008 I used to think M-Network until I made my shelves (see link in my sig.). Now I hate Xonox Double Enders. Just no good way to display them without taking up a ton of space. (Atari 5200 carts would have won if listed. Just plain annoying.)
joeybastard #12 Posted April 7, 2008 (Atari 5200 carts would have won if listed. Just plain annoying.) I ended up putting side labels from a Brother P-Touch on them and the N64 carts so I could stack/display them easier.
+Psionic #13 Posted April 7, 2008 I dunno...I got rid of most of my loose carts. Iwan....is that you? I got rid of my loose (non-boxed) carts, not my non-sealed ones. Anything sealed either gets opened or added to my trade pile. I went with CommaVid, only because they're too long to clear the lid on my kiosk. Bah...kiosk, schmiosk. CommaVid carts are the coolest ever.

I ended up putting side labels from a Brother P-Touch on them and the N64 carts so I could stack/display them easier. I did the same exact thing. shadow460 #15 Posted April 8, 2008 Most annoying: Far and away, M Network for the lip style adapter. Second most, yup, gotta hit Starpath for that one since the cassettes don't stack into a group of loose carts much better than M Network carts do. You really do have to keep both companies in their separate storage bins. Oh, wait, let's move Starpath up to the top of the list, since their games are so easy to counterfeit! bones #16 Posted April 8, 2008 Great survey. M-Network cartridges are just fine for me; they fit nicely in the 4x1 or 7x2 modular cases. The Xonox single enders are a pain because they don't fit in those modular cases. Xonox double enders fit nicely in the instruction slot of the 7x2 cases, especially if you have 4 of those put together I only have one multicart with a protruding switch, and yeah, that's a pain. Wickeycolumbus #17 Posted April 8, 2008 M Network, because they dont stack well.
shadow460 #18 Posted April 8, 2008 Great survey. M-Network cartridges are just fine for me; they fit nicely in the 4x1 or 7x2 modular cases. Xonox double enders fit nicely in the instruction slot of the 7x2 cases, especially if you have 4 of those put together I only have one multicart with a protruding switch, and yeah, that's a pain. you know, those cases I had growing up that held 30 games each would hold any kind of cart. The double enders and the Supercharger fit into the spare instruction manual holder on one side, while instructions fit into the holder on the other side. The only thing they wouldn't hold securely was Starpath cassettes. We put those into a separate cassette breifcase, which I still have today along with those cassettes. Now that I remember, back in the day, we had Sega grip cases, Xonox single and double enders, Konami carts, M Network carts, and Starpath games. Today, M Network gives me the most headache with storage. Back in the day, Starpath was the hardest to store.
ls650 #19 Posted April 8, 2008 I always thought that the M-Network carts looked like Mattel had a bunch of leftover Intellivision shells that they had to get rid of. Goofy, no interesting artwork, unstackable, etc.
Starhopper #20 Posted April 8, 2008 M-Network sucks monkeybutt for storage and the like... Plus, I do miss a good label.
decypher #21 Posted April 8, 2008 My vote is for M-Network. No reason needed, we all know. Jim
supercat #22 Posted April 8, 2008 M Network, because they dont stack well. Would they stack if you put the right sort of rubber bands around them (probably 2x or 3x thick)?
shadow460 #23 Posted April 8, 2008 I actually got the to stack by flipping every other one end over end. Too bad I can't see the titles that way, though.
+doctorclu #24 Posted April 8, 2008 What? No Atari Jaguar carts? Well, 2600 carts, but I think Jaguar carts take the cake. Can't get a stoopid label on top of those carts with the rounded handle. In the 2600 world, Xonex double enders for sure. I remember CBS carts being too thick for some cart holders. I think the worst I heard of, wasn't there some third rate 2600 game clone company that made the 2600 cart shells out of a fragile plastic? That would suck! Foxsolo2000 #25 Posted April 8, 2008 M-Network for the many reasons already covered
