Atari2008 #1 Posted April 22, 2008 You may remember the Angry Video Game Nerd's infamous review of the 5200...now he takes on the Intellivision (Part 1) and Colecovision (Part 2). Even though he only dogs the systems I think it's really funny, despite having enjoyed Colecovision games. Of course a warning, contains very fowl language. Enjoy! keilbaca #3 Posted April 22, 2008 Amazing, as always from him. Although i did learn something today. I didn't know you could use 2600 controllers on the colecovision, I just might have to play ladybug on there now ^_^
phaxda #4 Posted April 22, 2008 "BOXING...YEAH! BOXING! ...." "..this sucks." I really need to get myself an Intellivoice. That Bomb Squad stuff was a riot. And I have NEVER seen this stuff from the Angry Nerd before so thanks for the link. It's awesome.

+remowilliams #6 Posted April 22, 2008 I'm afraid I really don't get the whole Angry video game nerd thing... Some of the observations are humorous, but I'm not quite sure what they are aiming for overall. It's not effective as real reviews (obviously), but it's not effective satire or comedy either. As far as language, it's not that I have a problem with foul language, but it too often just seems thrown in randomly with little impact or value. 8th lutz #7 Posted April 22, 2008 That guy's an idiot, but I guess that's the whole point You are not supposed to take his reviews seriously. His website has the following faq question and answer: Q: That game's not that bad, you're whining about it, just because you suck at it! A: Remember this is for comedy. Sure my gripes with the games stem from truth, but they are exaggerated. The whole point is to play bad. If you want to see somebody play good, go watch a speed run. If you take my reviews seriously, you are missing the whole point. Think for yourself. I may actually like some of the games I'm complaining about. I only focus on the negative. Some of my complaints may be legit and others far fetched. To this day, I still get long winded emails bitching about my Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest review, describing every last detail why they disagree with my video. Meanwhile, I'm just laughing my ass off. It was just a quick little video I made one night when I was bored, just for a little joke, and there's real "Angry Nerd's" getting mad about it, which is sad, pathetic and hilarious! The same people probably believe that I go around in real life, wearing a white pressed shirt, stuffed with pens in the pocket, and saying "fuck" all the time and talking about buffallos taking diarrhea dumps. I am pretty this also includes system reviews by him.

+remowilliams #9 Posted April 22, 2008 He is aiming for comedy. He said that in his FAQ found at http://cinemassacre.com/AVGN/faq.html Yeah, I was afraid of that. Must be a new form of 'comedy' that I haven't seen yet.
jboypacman #10 Posted April 22, 2008 Some of it was funny but i would of liked to of seen him talk about a few of the good games on the systems.
iswitt #11 Posted April 23, 2008 Though sometimes I think his humor is a little over the top or immature, I still get a kick out of those videos. He just keeps pulling those systems out. How many more does that guy have?

(For me he made one serious mistake quite a while ago: He's obviously a Nintendo fanboy. When comparing hardware, he skipped from SNES/3DO/Saturn/Jaguar straight to N64, omitting the best selling console of the world, the PSX. Which, when I of course confronted him about, he didn't like at all. He removed that YT vid shortly afterwards. From then on I knew he's a loser, nothing more) Edited April 23, 2008 by thomasholzer
RickHarrisMaine #13 Posted April 23, 2008 I thought it was funny... His experience with Looping was just like mine was the first time I played it. Now after a lot of work, I just sorta suck......

How many more does that guy have? I know he has a Neo Geo, a n64, and a Sega Saturn. That is without counting all the systems he did system or game reviews on. shadow460 #15 Posted April 23, 2008 Loved the crack about Space Attack, "now you get to shoot blueberry pancakes", and really loved the part about the CV's power supply!
S1500 #16 Posted April 23, 2008 I loved the fact he had that guy sing "Double Vision" all over the vids, even using some crude green-screening with the games. If you hate this guy's reviews, take note, there are 100 times WORSE reviewers out there. His audio(ie him speaking) is clear & crisp. He does direct video recording of the games, which about 70% of the others just put a cam in front of the TV. He touches the major points, and backs up his statements with facts. I enjoy his videos, but then again I like watching videos about the worst video games out there. His vulgar comments are hilarious, and he even puts things to comedy skits relevant to the review. jboypacman #17 Posted April 23, 2008 Oh i like his reviews because they really do make me laugh and he may get around to doing reviews on PSX stuff at some point.

It may not be what you like. What video did you put on his site that confronted him and he took it off??? I like to see your this less amusing video of yours! gdement #20 Posted April 24, 2008 I don't see how he could have removed a youtube vid. Unless you mean that other site that he's affiliated with. But yeah, I remember that console history video he made, and in his comments about the Nintendo vs Sega battle he made it pretty obvious that he's an old (S)NES fanboy who hasn't given up his grudges. I didn't take offense to it I just thought it was funny. If he skipped Sony... hell I don't care. They suck.
+Ransom #21 Posted April 24, 2008 I just found the Angry Video Game Nerd about a month ago while doing a Youtube search for atari 5200 commercials. His 5200 review came up. I clicked on it, and...woah! That's one foul-mouthed motherf&@$er! I've now watched all of his videos (just watching one or two a day...I can't take more than that at once, simply because it gets too repetitive). I'd say he's a pretty good hobbyist filmmaker, writer, and actor. No, his reviews aren't 100% serious, but they are at least somewhat based in fact, and he has a way of dramatizing flaws that often gets an honest laugh out of me. I appreciate the fact that he's putting these things together, and that the technology exists today where anyone can do similar work for a very low cost, then share it with the world. That alone brings a smile to my face.
Atarifever #22 Posted April 24, 2008 I didn't actually enjoy that at all. I'm not a critic of the guy, and I watched a bunch of his stuff (and still think the Ninja Turtles 3 thing is genuinely funny), but I didn't find anything in the INTV review funny or worthwhile in any way. He actually pointed out that a square didn't look like a bomb. That's not funny. It's just talking.
