MFoolsRun #1 Posted April 23, 2008 (edited) I'm talking to a guy with a Craig's List offer for a 2600 and a Colecovision with some controllers, all the hookups and the following games: carnival space invaders ms. pac man lock n chase pheonix racquetball wizard of wor vanguard bowling defender casino adventures of tron pac man missle command warlords pitfall kaboom! night driver asteroids donkey kong grand prix video pinball kangaroo He doesn't indicate which games are for which systems. Is this worth $40? Edited April 24, 2008 by MFoolsRun
MetalSlime23 #2 Posted April 23, 2008 A good chunk of those games are commons I also bet that the Coleco vision doesn't work. $40 seems too good to be true for a working Coleco. I say no.
BassGuitari #3 Posted April 23, 2008 If it all works and is in reasonable condition, then yes.
MFoolsRun #4 Posted April 23, 2008 He says both systems work. I could try to get him to show me, but I'm not thrilled with the idea of going into some Craig's List person's house.
nathanallan #5 Posted April 23, 2008 Agreed, you don't need drama in somebody else's house. But if the stuff works, imho, then it's not bad and I would get them. Maybe it's me, but I expect something to come up with older electronics like that, so I'm pretty lenient when it comes to condition and in particular the controllers. I would do it if it were me. SRGilbert #6 Posted April 24, 2008 I don't know, $40 seems pretty reasonable to take a chance on. If even one of the system works, it's not that bad a deal. If they both really work, then I'd say it was a great deal. I bought and sold a number of game related items on CL, and haven't had a problem yet. It's a lot less hassle than ebay, that's for sure! darthkur #7 Posted April 24, 2008 That seems alright. By the list of games you provided I'd say that you'll only have two games for the CV, those being Donkey Kong and Carnival. Still, if everything works it's definitely worth going for.

MFoolsRun #9 Posted April 24, 2008 (edited) I went for it. The 2600 is a Heavy Six (my first) and works beautifully (though the switches are a little tight... I'll have to see if I can de-gunk them or something). He had a ton of manuals, too; many for games that he didn't have in the box. He even had an empty 2600 "Empire Strikes Back" box in there and a sealed (though crushed) Super Breakout. The Coleco appears DOA, which is too bad because it has an Expansion Module #1 with it and the games are all in nice shape (Mouse Trap even has the overlays). Here's what's up with the Coleco: When I flip the switch, the static on the TV jumps, and the static changes from black and white to green and red, but no picture ever appears. Is this possibly the notorious power switch issue? I opened the system up and everything looks normal and un-corroded, but I don't really know what I'm looking at. In my disassembly, I broke one of the solder points holding the RF shield to the board. I have no idea if that's important or not. None of the power-switch issues I've read about are described like my issue, but I've never owned a Coleco before, so I don't really know. Thoughts? Oh, and the guy threw in one of those Coleco table-top Pac-Man things. I don't have any "C" batteries, so I have no idea if it works, but it looks damn cool!
