S1500 #1 Posted April 25, 2008 My Famiclone "console tv" only runs on batteries. I wanted to change that. Bought a power port from AxMan, and a few from Rat Shack. Dismantled it, and screwed in the new port. Thankfully, the wires to it was on a 2-pin doohickey, so I unhooked the ones from the battery terminals and plugged straight into the circuit board. Yeah, the workmanship was crap. I filed down the black plastic housing, thinking I would be mounting on the inside, but changed my mind halfway and tried the outside. Why? I was originally going to use the Radio Shack one, but I lost the screws. Either way, I double & triple checked the polarity, fired it up, and it works like a charm. No solderin' needed. The crappy finished product. Complete with Taiwanese-bought xxx-in-1 pirate cart. Nothing on this console is legitimate! It's amazing how much circuitry a Famiclone can be reduced to. Easy to stick in a NES cart just like that other guy did.
nathanallan #2 Posted April 25, 2008 Any mod is a good one, nice job! Any plans for future modding of this particular console? Nathan
S1500 #3 Posted April 25, 2008 Any mod is a good one, nice job! Any plans for future modding of this particular console? Nathan I can't think of any future mods for it. No idea how to grab a s-video signal out of it, and still that would be a pain in the rear to find room to make the extra port. The controller ports are good enough, even though non-standard. Why? the controllers have turbo buttons built-in. And for some reason, there's a 3rd button. It can play NES or Famicom games. It's good to go.
