TAC-2 joysticks

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I ran across a pair of TAC-2 joysticks for pretty cheap. I know that they are 2600 compatible. I was wondering if they are 7800 compatible as well? There are dual action buttons, or are they just plain action buttons that either a lefty or righty can use? I picked them up with the hopes of using them with my 7800, but I can live with it if they are just ok 2600 units, as I do like my Atari goods.

But if anyone can share information about these, I'd love to hear from you.

2600 only. I guess you mod them to be 7800 compatible but it would be a pain to hit the second button.

Will they work aside from not having the second button? Are 2600 and 7800 controllers mapped the same save for a second button?

Looks like I will have to keep an eye out for a good pair of 7800 controllers.

Best... joystick... ever. I'm a certified tac-2 fanatic.

If you can mod one up to use the 2nd button 7800 style it would be even better.

I have one that Prodos8 made, and it's a good one.

I got one modded by prodos8, and it works great. The spacing of the buttons is a bit of a pain, but you get used to it. It cramps my hands less than the stock controllers. And yes, I got Prodos to mod it for me, I am lazy like that.
