the 5th ghost #1 Posted May 5, 2008 I finally managed to max the score on this one! I reached 999,999 during Sector 89, then from there I just continued to clear boards till I maxxed the Sector counter at 99. Once you hit a rythm, the game seems to slow down. Then it's just a matter of time. Although, I did flounder a little in the mid 900K range. I had at least 11 reserve ships, which quickly got whittled down to 2! I was starting to think I was going to fall short, but then I got back into the rythm. I wish I was taping the game for Twin Galaxies, but I thought it was going to be just another practice session. Before this particular game, my highest score was just under 500K, and my highest Sector was 66. Next time I'll be recording. At least now I know I can do it! the 5th ghost #4 Posted May 5, 2008 http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=IB-Gj259OeUhttp://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=_PUf55XwzRU That you? It didn't take too long. I wasn't timing myself, but it certainly isn't a marathon. If I were to guess-timate, I'd say roughly 1 - 1.5 hours.
ls650 #5 Posted May 6, 2008 Beamrider rocks! It's one of my favourite 2600 games.
the 5th ghost #6 Posted May 6, 2008 Just played again, and reached 999,999 on Sector 81. I would have got there sooner, but missed a few sentinels in the mid 70s. I'm wondering what would be the fewest possible amount of Sectors to reach 999,999? In other words, what has been the lowest Sector for a player to reach 999,999? the 5th ghost #11 Posted May 6, 2008 Did you tape this one? NO! Another practice game, or to be more exact, an assurance game to detrermine that I can now do it everytime. Now I'm ready to tape

the 5th ghost #13 Posted May 6, 2008 Here's my screenshot from the last game. I actually maxxed the score midway through Sector 81, but instead of intentionally dying, I finished the wave, then destroyed the sentinel before taking the picture. That's why it is showing Sector 82. As you can see, I had a full compliment of reserves (and then some!)

You are definitely in the top 3 of Atari 2600 video game players out there. I only once dared to challenge you and that was to see who could get the highest score on Megamania in the first four rounds. I am really good at this game. It is my favorite game. Yet you preceded to produce scores I could not even imagine getting. Congrats on your game. Though I have to say I am not at all surprised.
