Damn hacking utilities!

Recommended Posts

I've never really messed with MSDOS but I downloaded some programs that will allow me to hack some games. But damn it! I can't get the think to show the games code. Infact, I can't get it to do anything. Help me out. I'm trying to hack Pitfall. And I do have the grafix editor too wich I also can't get to work.

you mean change the colors in the game ? you can't do that with my program or other gfx change programs. you have to disassemble the binay image, and then look for the color registers. (you need to know a little assembly)

you could seach the internet for a tutorial 6502 programming, and then look for the atari 2600 memory map. look for the right color register to change.

I found a tutorial on ASM 6502 but I didn't get tru two pages before giving up. It's just that it's not all explained. The guy dosn't explain whats what. So I'm gonna hack the games and mess with it. Mabe it will allow me to understand the code better.

There is a link to a good beginners guide right here in this forum. The topic must have been some weeks ago.

What tutorial, whos the author? I just read a great one that was fairly straight forward............do I remeber where I got it, no.....it was during one of my mad informational web strikes.....msg me and I'll email it to you if you want

Do you have any programming experience? Any bit helps, as assembler is a little abstract for most complete "newbies" to programming, but not impossible :)
