Atari2600.com #1 Posted May 12, 2008 Last week we shipped two Heavy 6er Atari 2600 systems and a selection of game cartridges to MTV Networks on Broadway in NYC. Two copies each of Asteroids, Breakout, Kaboom, and Space invaders were purchased so they have two identical systems with two sets of matching games. Curious, I wrote to the buyer at MTV asking if the Ataris were to be used on one of their shows. I didn't receive a reply so whatever their purpose remains a secret. It seems likely that the 2 Atari systems and games will appear in an upcoming MTV program. I never watch MTV, haven't since 1991. If anyone catches the show, or sees a promo for an upcoming episode featuring the Atari 2600 systems, please post here so that I and perhaps others can enjoy seeing them on TV. Jess Ragan #2 Posted May 12, 2008 I stopped watching around the time that lardass rapper Bubba Sparxxx nearly threw a Dreamcast. That really pissed me off! Although I will admit that I have tuned into Wild Boyz on MTV2 every now and then, just to watch the idiots feed themselves to wild animals. The MTV networks really are a generational thing, you know that? When you're in your late teens and early twenties, they seem like the greatest thing ever. Then the moment you hit the big 3-0, there's nothing on them that appeals to you. I don't know if it's because the shows have gotten progressively worse or if I'm just out of touch with modern day trends... I suspect it's a little from column A, and a little from column B. mos6507 #3 Posted May 12, 2008 MTV was cool when they actually showed videos. Those videos had some real creativity put into them. Here are a few examples of the high art of 80s music video narrative to jog people's memories: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4K1xnVFxfw0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XwfXVUL7mg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41IJrrOh3lk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzpxRd44PpE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP6-j9pxTGI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs37NSLy3z4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us4YpTlbebU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us4YpTlbebU
