EricDeLee
I passed the 500 mark for different carts. By different, I mean text labels, Atari Picture, Sears Picture, Sears Text, Handle, standard, etc etc Minor label variations have not been collected... eventually, but not right now So... now I have a full database of what I have, what I need, and now I need to sell off the 500 or so doubles I have! Just wanted to say I'm up to 500 now...
Omegamatrix
Well done! I find collecting comes in waves. When I first started I had hundreds of loose carts and then it got to the point where I had tubs of carts in the living room, so yeah time to sell. But then after a while you regret it and buy them all back. It's really what you enjoy. I kind of miss pulling out a bin and staring at complete collection this, complete collection of that. It was a lot of fun but now it is an issue of space and money. Anyhow it can be addicting like crack, and once you get bitten by the box bug your wallet will really start to scream at you. EricDeLee
I'm worried about the box bug. REALLY worried about that thing. I heard it was pretty lethal at times. I don't think I'll run down that route, but then again, I've got 50+ boxed games sitting in my room right now. I think I should burn them so that I don't get this plaque. LOL I forgot to add in my repros and my homebrews. I guess I can add 20 or so to that list.

Games are meant to be played, don't you ever want to open them up? oh yeah and Eric, well done
classicgamingguy
Congratulations! I have 15 games myself now, plus 8 more coming, PLUS another 10 in a few weeks. Not sure what I've gotten myself into, but I have a feeling there isn't any stopping this train I'm on! In a period of a couple of months, I'll already be up to 33 cart-only games. Wow... Red 5
Congrats! That's a big milestone. Not to scare you more, but right around the time I hit 500 loose games is when I started looking for boxes. It's way easier finding a box for a common game than finding a new game that you don't have yet. (And a lot cheaper too.) Anyway, congrats again and welcome to the 500 club. Lord Thag
Nice man! I just passed that myself a couple of years ago. Like you, I steadfastly refuse to get bit by the box bug. After all, the money I saved allowed my to get a near complete TG-16 set! 500 loose carts is a BIG bookshelf, isn't it?

I had a near complete TG-16 set... manuals, jewel cases, ect.etc. Add a almost 100-150 PCE games to the mix, and well... I lost intrest with it and sold it off. It was a really nice set as well. As for the shelf... I have a pretty small shelf in the bedroom that I use. They are double stacked though, so every row has another row behind it. I have all of mine in alphabetical order by cart types (Atari Text, Atari Picture, Sears Text, Sears Picture, Activision, Parker Bros, etc.)

dwh
I have spent hundreds of dollars to get a few boxed games to fill in those I am missing. The problem with this hobby is once you get all the common stuff, the rest gets pretty expensive and takes longer to aquire, unless you win the lottery or something. The growing of the collection will be much more slower at one time. But the money will shrink much more.

EricDeLee
I've looked at ADOL's pics before. VERY impressive. If I'm not mistaken he has a complete set of PCE games, Atari Lynx, and other stuff as well. Awesome collection. I wonder what he plays though? thomasholzer
Adol is hardcore, but his Lynx collection is not complete (yet), and he's missing Gorf for complete Jaguar, but he claims Gorf's a homebrew and never sold in shops.
Mark Wolfe
I like using the long flat plastic storage bins. They are a little higher than a NES cart and as long as a tube of wrapping paper and about as wide as a skinny bed cot. They can stack easily and can slide under the bed or under the stairs or wherever and hold a hell of a lot of carts in one bin, all labels up no stacking for easy perusal
