Good racing games

Personal favorites are Pole Position and Enduro. But for a top-down racer, Indy 500. Appropriate game to be playing this weekend, btw.

I agree that Enduro and Pole Position are the best racing games for the 2600.

 

Maybe someday a homebrewer will make a great racing game for the 2600....

I'm kind of shocked that batari jumped in this thread but didn't push his own WIP, homebrew, top down racer - maybe he doesn't want the pressure to finish it.

 

But, really, it is absolutely fantastic.

Big sprite, multidirectional scrolling, powerups, different track surfaces, etc. And IIRC it supports both the joystick and the driving controllers. One thing it doesn't have it a two-player version.

Grandma's Revenge on the 2007 Holiday Cart. Uses the driving controllers, and is loads of fun.

I have a soft spot for Bump 'n' Jump too, great game, and amazingly flicker-free.
