yard sale find to bad the owners arent selling it

took a walk down the street and came across a neighbors yard sale found this one of a kind gem the Nintendo progame system. Wanted to buy this but they were keeping it wise people lol but was able to get a picture of it

looks like either a custom job, or they are in the process of restoring it. it's awefully generic compared to how they should look. It's also missing the coin door and money door, I don't think this is an official playchoice 10 machine, or as I said before, maybe a restore project or it's in a custom cabinet.

 

I wonder what that hole is on the front, maybe this is just a regular NES with a cab built around it?

Actually it seems like I remember seeing (and wanting) one of these in a catalog some years ago. Many years ago. From what I could tell back then, it was basically just a simple cabinet that you put your NES in. Joystick panels connected to the NES joystick ports and operated much like an NES advantage controller. And from the looks of this picture, that seems to fit the bill pretty well. Can't imagine that they'd have sold many of them since a lot of people could build something similar or better (joystick panel accepted, however). But this is either one of the units I saw in the catalog back then, or a cabinet styled after the one I saw.

 

Wish I still had the old catalogs from yesteryear, but hindsight is always 20/20.
