Videogame journalism at it's worst (kotaku.com)

http://kotaku.com/5010699/g4-gamespy-games...-vc-soul-blazer

Back on May 12th, Nintendo decided to skip their weekly Virtual Console update in order to focus on the release of WiiWare. Having posted just about every VC Update since the service began, I decided to post one anyway, asking our readers what games would make up their ideal update. My choices were Soul Blazer for the Super Nintendo and Tiny Toon Adventures for the NES.

Apparently I possess some sort of bizarre, mutant powers of suggestion, because somewhere between there and here, several websites began reporting the two titles as actual updates. I'm not talking tiny little sites like Wii60 either. IGN sites Gamespy and Gamestats ran with it...heck, G4 even went to the trouble of making a video about the imaginary update, which I am guess won't be up for too much longer, so enjoy while you can. Update - As expected, video went bye-bye.

I don't suppose it counts as plagiarism if they don't read the article closely enough to realize it isn't real.

A lot of videogame jornalists deserve to get fired over this. Attempting to do plagiarism is bad enough, but not reading the entire article first makes that person look stupid.

I recommand no one should go to Ign owned sites , or G4 for video game news updates after this blunder. It appears like they hire morons or people without ethics as journalists.

All game journalists should've went to Nintendo of America's media site to get their vc release information at first place.

Come one now, has there ever been any doubt that IGN and G4 hire idiots? Watch a G4 show or listen to an IGN podcast for further proof.

Ha, first I thought you were saying kotaku was copying YOU

and then I still thought you were the write for kotaku.

looks like you're doing some plagiarizing yourself ;-)

I do think it's kind of weird that Kotaku posted the fake downloads WITH prices...

I typed kotaku down as a part of the title for a reason. I mentioned them as a way to give credit to them, so I wouldn't be accused of plagiarizism.

IGN's Retrocity is decent. Miles better than 1Up's Retronauts. I could give or take the rest of IGN, but it's nice to see them do retro gaming right.

That they ripped of a Kotaku post as "news" is pretty pathetic, though.

I wasn't accusing you but I WAS finding it confusing...

you should probably wrap stuff in quote blocks, that would eliminate the confusion.

when I first read the post I too thought that Kotaku or whatever copied 8th Lutz and then it went from there. I was like, no way did a post on Atari Age make it to X-play as news.
