classicgamingguy #4 Posted May 23, 2008 How about some of the cleaning cloths that are available on the market? They might help..not sure how harsh they are, however. I have the same problem, but unlike yourself, boek, I haven't started yet! That might be a good project while the wife's away on her annual business trip. nathanallan #6 Posted May 23, 2008 Take it apart and wash it in the bath tube with an old toothbrush. Jim In the case of a whole unit, I'd use a soft scrub brush, it's for bigger jobs. Nathan
Red 5 #7 Posted May 23, 2008 Armor All ! <runs> Damn, you beat me to it! Still the funniest thread E V E R ! (With respect to Knight Rider thread of course.) I read it again after I posted this and fell over laughing. I was still just lurking back then. It almost scared me away from ever posting here as I assumed you were all nucking futs. Anyway, don't clean it with Armor All. I was joking.
Gregory DG #8 Posted May 23, 2008 Still the funniest thread E V E R ! (With respect to Knight Rider thread of course.) It didn't get really funny until Mock joined in an pissed on their cornflakes. Anyway, don't clean it with Armor All. I was joking. Let's not start THAT again! Clean it with whatever you want!
littleman jack #9 Posted May 23, 2008 I've used Windex on my Sega Genesis and controllers to great effect. You might try it on a small spot first (like it always says on household cleaners) and see if that would work on the Vader.

82-T/A #19 Posted May 25, 2008 Guys, really really simple. Take the thing completely apart, and put the two halves in the washing machine. If it has a sticker on the bottom that you don't want to damage, then just put the top half of the shell in the dish washer. It will come out 100% brand new looking... seriously... I've done this with everything I've got (that doesn't have stickers on it).
classicgamingguy #20 Posted May 27, 2008 You're kidding, right? I mean....I know I might sound stupid, but wouldn't the hard wash/rinse/spin cycle break the two halves into a MILLION pieces? Am I just being dumb here or is there something to this?
Video #21 Posted May 27, 2008 I used black spraypaint (J/K) You can take it appart and use the dishwasher, or a scrub brush (pads won't get into all them vent looking cracks) Then keep it in a giant ziplock bag to keep it from getting dirty again
82-T/A #22 Posted May 27, 2008 You're kidding, right? I mean....I know I might sound stupid, but wouldn't the hard wash/rinse/spin cycle break the two halves into a MILLION pieces? Am I just being dumb here or is there something to this? Son of a b***h, did I say washing machine? I always do that. No, sorry... I mean dish washer. I put the parts on the top rack (glasses) of the dishwasher and run a load. They come out absolutely spotless! Damn, I really should watch what I write... imagine if someone had taken my advice of LITERALLY putting it into a washing machine as apposed to a dish washer. Yeah, I'd imagine the washing machine would totally destroy it! hahah....
+Nathan Strum #23 Posted May 27, 2008 It may be that the plastic has just completely lost its sheen. In that case, I'd suggest disassembling it, and spray-paint it but not with black spray paint. Just a clear semi-gloss or gloss coating for plastics will do.
tremoloman2006 #24 Posted May 28, 2008 Try Lemon Pledge... I use it on boxes, carts, consoles... never lets me down!
Prodos8 #25 Posted May 28, 2008 For a quick clean-up w/o taking it apart I spray it down with windex (let it soak for a minute or so), brush it with a toothbrush then dry it with a large hand-towel or bath towel turning it often. Repeat a few times, if necessary, and it'll look decent. Take it apart and clean it in dish water with a toothbrush and sponge if you want it perfectly clean or if it's stubbornly dirty. I usually avoid immersing the bottom part to keep the stickers from peeling off.
