ataridave #1 Posted May 29, 2008 as opposed to the dual ones that are linked together? Because I really don't need both paddles but the only single paddle controllers I can find are on Amazon. (And they're not the plug-and-play ones that come with games.) The description of one for sale said that it was made by Telegames.
Prodos8 #2 Posted May 29, 2008 AFAIK paddles always came in pairs and driving controllers are singles. I suppose you could re-wire a single paddle using a sega controller wire (or other 9-connector wire) as a single paddle. Not familiar with the tele-games paddle you refered to. homerwannabee #3 Posted May 29, 2008 (edited) Well Atari did make the driving controller for Indy 500. It is a single paddle controller you can use on any game. http://www.atariage.com/controller_page.ht...;ControllerID=3 Edited May 29, 2008 by homerwannabee

Nevermind, just shows how much I use my Driving controller on the Atari 2600.
BigO #6 Posted May 29, 2008 (edited) You may be referring to the combination controller that came with the Gemini. It has a paddle and joystick in one controller. You had to use a "Y" cable to hook 2 up to one port for 2 player games, I've heard. I think a similar controller came with a Sears' system, Video Arcade II, I think it was. I remember seeing such a controller on eBay. It looked different than the Gemini one. (Brief discussion about the Gemini controller: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...ini+controller) If you really, really, really want a single, dedicated paddle controller, I could build you one. So could a number of other people who hang out around here. Edited May 29, 2008 by BigO
BigO #7 Posted May 29, 2008 This is what I remember seeing. I'm guessing this is what the original poster is referring to: http://cgi.ebay.com/ATARI-2600-SEARS-VIDEO...805270928a16790

Lord Helmet #9 Posted May 29, 2008 Isn't there a single paddle for the Commodore Vic-20 and C-64 that's atari compatible?
theking21083 #10 Posted May 30, 2008 (edited) I did an easy (No Soldering) mod on a Sears Video Arcade II controller to make it a dedicated paddle controller. All paddle controllers use the right direction for the action button. On the Sears Video Arcade II controller it is a joystick/paddle combo controller. If you ever used one you will know that you have to push right on the joystick/paddle when playing a paddle game, for the action button. In games like Night Driver where you have to hold the action button to go it is annoying to hold down right and turn the paddle at the same time. I just unhooked the cable going to the action button and the right direction. Then I hooked up the cable for the right direction onto the the board where the action button is. Now I can use the controller as a dedicated paddle without having to have an extra paddle hanging off. The paddle part of the controller is very good on all of my Sears Video Arcade II controllers but the joysticks suck big time. Atgames had paddles I own 2 sets and they good quality on multiplayer paddle games but not single player paddle games due to how stiff they are. If you can make these things then I have to ask can you make a PC version that connects USB? How stiff arw yours?
