shadow460 #2 Posted May 30, 2008 I've played it, and I think it was okay. I just haven't coughed up the $5 for it at a local game store yet. One thing--it is frustratingly difficult.

Atari5200 #5 Posted May 30, 2008 Back to the Future 2 & 3 is one of my favorite NES games. I've never played regular Back to the Future. I will have to check it out.
aftermac #6 Posted May 30, 2008 I remember playing it once or twice years ago at a friends house, but I never really made it very far. It might be worth revisiting.

iswitt #10 Posted May 31, 2008 I had the game when I was a wee lad. My skills weren't then what they are today, so I never made it very far. I think I only ever got to the malt shop (or whatever it was) before I died. It always made me mad, so I stuck to TMNT 2 and Guardian Legend.
Vic George 2K3 #11 Posted May 31, 2008 It was screamingly bad and difficult to get through. Then I played it using the Game Genie, and it just became simply bad.
Joe C. #12 Posted June 22, 2008 Heavily slept on game. I have yet to beat it. One day I'll get through this one.
nester #13 Posted June 25, 2008 I got that game for Christmas probably in 1990. I never thought it was an outstanding game, but I've always enjoyed it. I finally beat it a couple years ago and felt very good about myself for doing it. I'd say it's worth playing.
ragedgamer #14 Posted July 29, 2008 Spent countless hours playing the series' as a kid. Don't know what it was about them. Must go find one one Ebay tonight.

+Psionic #17 Posted January 3, 2014 Hey Anthony, this game was programmed by a friend of mine named Trevor Nuridin. He works at Tantalus Interactive these days. I remember it being programmed, as I sat at a nearby. desk. Andrew, maybe you've been asked (and answered) this before... What was the deal with the music in this game? It was supposed to sound like this, but for some odd reason it was sped up and ended up sounding like this instead. Was there some kind of problem with the music license for "The Power of Love", or was this just some kind of bizarre programming error? Can you shed any light on this? Andrew Davie #18 Posted January 3, 2014 I don't recall BEAM/Melbourne House *ever* licensing music. Generally the music guys worked independently from the programmers, and we the programmers were just given a plug-in music module which we used. My guess would be that to save money on licensing, a different track was used. Just a guess.
fdurso224 #19 Posted January 3, 2014 Hi guys, Still a favorite and love playing it today. Just beat Back to the Future I, II, and III on the games beaten for 2014 section! Anthony...
Greg2600 #20 Posted January 3, 2014 Kind of surprised Huey and the News didn't catch on! Though they were busy suing Ray Parker for clearly copying I Want a New Drug for Ghostbusters. Clever way of disguising the original tune but leaving it "in the game!"
CatPix #21 Posted January 4, 2014 I haven't played the games myself... But if I can see a bit of interest in the BTTF II &III games.... good golly, what is the point in the I? It's a mindless repetitive and unfunny stuff. Except maybe the guitar stages and the Delorean stages that have a nice original tone. I played a bit of Super BTTFII on SuFami. It's... Not that great too, but it's a bit better story wise. It's just very repetitive too, adn the difficulty is unbalanced. The most annoying part is certainly the slowdown when mroe than 3 sprites show up on screen.

My guess would be that to save money on licensing, a different track was used. Just a guess. They must've planned to get the license originally, no? If not, one would think a totally original track would've been used (instead of simply speeding up TPoL so fast that it's nearly unrecognizable). You say that Trevor Nuridin programmed this game, but the Digital Press guide credits you and David Pentecost with the game (as well as BttF II & III). Did you and/or David actually work on any of these games, or is that an error? Kind of surprised Huey and the News didn't catch on! Though they were busy suing Ray Parker for clearly copying I Want a New Drug for Ghostbusters. Clever way of disguising the original tune but leaving it "in the game!" It is pretty clever, yet pretty bizarre at the same time. I don't really follow the NES scene at all these days. Has anyone hacked this game and returned the music to its proper speed? I can't imagine it would be that difficult.

Did you and/or David actually work on any of these games, or is that an error? It's nearly 30 years ago now. I don't really remember who wrote things anymore. I did not program BTTFx. Best to ask David, Trevor, and possibly Jamie Rivett as they are the likely culprits.
Austin #24 Posted January 4, 2014 This is one of those games I rented once as a kid and had it beaten by the end of the weekend. I don't remember it being terrible but I don't remember anything that stood out either. I will have to load it up on the Power Pak to see how it holds up.
