PS2 - can't get component cables to work a tall

Long story short. Picked up a component out SCART cable for my PS2. I tried it on 2 TVs, and not a single bit of picture comes out. It runs just great on S-Video for my HDTV, and in the menu I set it to y/cb/cr(or whatever the heck it is). Boot it up w/ the component cable, nuttin.

 

What's the trick to get this to work? the only thing I haven't tried is testing it with my circuit tester to see if any signal comes out with dem wires.

 

After noticing a much better picture with using component(versus S-Video) with my DVD player system, I wanted to take the PS2 down that route as well.

With SCART i think that's PAL so I can't say for certain how it goes, but I know there are 2 different settings for component cables in the PS2 option menu. Maybe try the other setting or a different set of cables.
