flammingcowz #1 Posted June 7, 2008 I know that a lot of you love the game Adventure. I Just wanted to know what you guys find fun about it after beating it so many times that you've lost count? Sorry if this sounds mean, im just curious.

Prodos8 #3 Posted June 7, 2008 Game 3 is random. When I was a kid my friends I would time each other to see who could win the fastest. It wasn't always fair, since it was random, sometimes you'd get a favorable layout. At the time it was the closest thing to a D&D video game, so just playing it was fun. NE146 #4 Posted June 7, 2008 Well.. Game 3 is usually always different.. so that keeps it interesting. Not to mention all the little tricks/glitches you can do and actually discover on your own.
accousticguitar #5 Posted June 7, 2008 Wow, a quadruple post! You don't see too many of those. There are also many hacks of Adventure for more variety. Check out post #5 on this link: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=119860
EricDeLee #6 Posted June 7, 2008 Missadventure Revised.... is this available in cart format? Or even a rom (perhaps it will work on the Krok. Point me in the right direction please!

Sorry if this sounds mean, im just curious. Yep, like the others say, game 3 is random....plus, to this day, I still do not tire of the multicolored mega fanfare that greets you when the chalice is in the gold castle! MetalSlime23 #9 Posted June 7, 2008 I like to go after the ester egg (the black dot thing that lets you see the credits. I can never remember where that damn this is, and it always impresses my friends. I even impressed an old girl friend with the trick.
accousticguitar #10 Posted June 7, 2008 (edited) Missadventure Revised.... is this available in cart format? Or even a rom (perhaps it will work on the Krok. Point me in the right direction please! It's not available on cart, but it works fine on the Krok multicart with F8 bankswitch mode. Edit: The rom is in post #1. http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=119860 Edited June 7, 2008 by accousticguitar
shadow460 #11 Posted June 7, 2008 Try beating Game 3 with both switches in the A position. It definitely makes a difference.

ATARIPITBULL #13 Posted June 7, 2008 Not only try to beat it on level 3 but I used to try to get all of the items in the one castle, including the bat!!!
Deteacher #14 Posted June 7, 2008 My brother and I had an ongoing challenge when we were younger...how many times in a row could you beat it on game 3 with both difficulty switches on 'a'. I think the record (held by him) was 14. That always kept the game fun for us.
Kripto #15 Posted June 7, 2008 I love it due to the tools given to the player and the general foolishness that can result. It's also fun trying to 'cheat' the system and get the player places he wasn't meant to go, etc. Using the bat to pick things up... I think it's the most 'open ended' 2600 game out there. Ranthulfr #19 Posted June 8, 2008 As others have indicated, Adventure was as much fun to explore as it was to play with the goal in mind. The game probably stood out more at the time of its release, when almost every other game involved scoring points on a static playfield. Adventure and Superman broke new ground. I don't play it that much nowadays but in a way it is the measuring stick for every new game I try.
supercat #20 Posted June 8, 2008 If only the maps changed every time you play it... Maybe Trogdor needs to be pushed to finish Hunt The Wumpus.
Rik #21 Posted June 8, 2008 I put away all my pc,console games that I,ve beaten away for a couple of years. Then when I come back and play them, about 50% of the game i forgot about. Some games have absolutely no replay value though, like most old school adventure/puzzle pc games. But,its still fun to replay them like Sierra's King's Quest,Police Quest, and all the other Sierra Quest titles.I still find Adventure fun to play all the time!great game
Kittenmommy #22 Posted June 9, 2008 If you have to ask, you don't get it. Yes, this. I've been playing this game for 26 years. I could probably go through all of the mazes blindfolded. And it gets better every single time.
supercat #23 Posted June 9, 2008 Adventure hack idea: Allow the player to select the random number seed, but keep things otherwise as they are in Game 3. Actually, that might have been a nice touch for WR to have put in if he'd freed up the code space for the numbering. Then instead of advertising 3 games he could have advertised 10,000. I'm not sure what you mean or how this would work. Can you explain it in simpler language, please?
accousticguitar #25 Posted June 9, 2008 I think he means that when the game started you could enter a number (like 17, for example) and everytime you played game number 17, the objects would be in the same place (except for the ones the bat moved around, of course). If you didn't want to play that particular game any more, just pick a new number and get a new game.
