need help with sixer

my game select switch goes berzerk when turned on. its not damaged and i think it may be one of the small brown devices that is near where the power plug is plugged in at. does anyone know the suspect device that would account for the select button berzerkness such as c226, c227, c223. this is for a sears heavy sixer. help will be appreciated.

Mabe the thing is stuck towards down and brings it straight down.
